Should You Pull? Ultra Festival Rerun: Lollipop Princess of Plenty

Should You Pull?

Yes. Toyohime from the B3 Universe has really not changed in terms of viability since her debut, still standing tall as both some of the best healing and support as well as damage in Touhou LostWord. With the rare ability to remove debuffs and Binds that are common in challenging content such as the Scarlet Devil Tower, the ability to pull for such an incredible Friend again should not be underestimated, especially when it is uncertain when an Ultra Festival Friend such as herself will return.

This is not to say that the competition she has is far off of her tracks, at least when it comes to the newcomers Kutaka Nitawari and Keiki Haniyasushin, two decent Friends in their own right. A10 Sanae and Mononobe no Futo are decent options as well, and the upcoming A12 Byakuren Hijiri and A6 Cirno are also great, but nowhere close to Toyohime when it comes to the raw meta. Especially when you have such a long time to pick up Toyohime, that being June 24th, there really is little reason to not pull for her, especially if you missed out on her initially.

No God Crystal Step-UP should be expected, but the x2 Fortune Dust on God Crystal pulls should be expected just the same. It may not be the cheap 60 God Crystals like on other new Prayers, but getting a better chance to pull a Friend as great as this should never be taken for granted.

Quick Overview

+Extremely high and versatile utility
+High T1 damage and potential damage
+Tanky due to passives and her skills
+Bind cleanse for the team helps bypass mechanics which the stage has.
-Breaks are mediocre against multiple enemies
-Bind cleanse is random if there are multiple locks

B3 Watatsuki no Toyohime

Watatsuki no Toyohime is one of the strongest characters in Touhou lore, and “Plentiful Temple of Wealth and Equality” makes no exception to that. As a disciple of Eirin Yagokoro (or Master Yagokoro, as she is known by the Lunarians), she practiced her ability, “to link the mountains and the sea”, to the point of near perfection at which she wields it now. She and her sister Yorihime maintain their status as Heads of the Lunar Defense Corps in this world too along with other Temple-heads and protect the Lunar Capital from the kaiju threat seen throughout their own alternative universe.

Toyohime’s main point would be the amount of utility that she provides to the team. Her spell cards not only have good pre-effects for the team, but also do really good damage. With her first spell card able to deal good damage with its killers and her Last Word having a really nice setup with her high Hard scaling, Toyohime can provide the team not only with a great deal of damage, but amazing utility to boot. The only flaw that can really be said about Toyohime would be her mediocre All-targeting breaks. However, the rest of her kit more than compensates for that.

Toyohime’s skills are what make her such a powerful friend to have. Her first and second skills only serve to augment the team’s survivability with a 70% heal on both which synergizes with her massive HP pool. With her first skill, Classic Peach, she can provide the team with 2 barriers and .25 P. For her 2nd skill, Popular Pomegranate, Toyohime becomes a pseudo tank with 3 stages of Yang DEF to the party for 3 turns and 4 stages of Focus UP on herself for 3 turns and healing another 70% to the party. Her 2nd skill, combined with her first two passives which reduce damage against youkai by 35% and and a 60% chance to reduce any damage taken by 50%, Toyohime is capable of taking a few hits from the enemy. Finally, her 3rd skill, New Fruit Punch, not only provides herself with 1.5 P and 3 stages of Yang ATK to the party for 3 turns, but is also able to clear a bind or debuff which the enemy or your teammate may inflict on you. This allows Toyohime to help make clearing content for the first team significantly easier as it allows Toyohime to bypass some mechanics that the fight may have, like preventing you from grazing, preventing you from boosting, and etc. While this may also be a problem if the enemy prevents you from using your skills, Toyohime can bypass that by her 3rd passive clearing a bind or debuff on herself every turn. With her ability giving 1 stage of Accuracy per Boost and 1 stage of Yang ATK per Graze, Toyohime has an enormous presence with her utility giving both offensive and defensive abilities.

Barrier breaking wise, her single-targeting is decently powerful with a P0 wood shot and her 2nd spell card inflicting 2 Poison anomalies as a pre-effect and breaking the anomalies instantaneously if you use one boost on the spell card. However, her all-targeting breaks can be on the more mediocre side of things. As her 1st spell card has 6 different elements, the spell card becomes impractical to use for breaking enemies. Her best all-targeting breaks come in her Last Word, which has 3 Moon and 3 Water lines. However, Last Words are typically only used as a last resort due to Last Words locking characters from using their other spells.

All in all, with mediocre to good barrier breaks, arguably the best utility in the game, and great damage, Toyohime can do many things and she can do these things phenomenally. All of the tools necessary for someone that desires to maintain the peace and provide to all
