Sakuya Izayoi is the head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and has the complete trust of its mistress, Remilia, who once proclaimed Sakuya to be "an excellent cleaner."

Generally speaking, "cleaning" refers to the act of removing things, whether that be throwing away trash or wiping away dirt. However, in many creative works, evil is likened to real-world trash, and its removal or purification is similar to the act of cleaning. Those who contribute to the "cleaning" are often labeled as "cleaners." Now then, what is meant by "cleaning" in the Scarlet Devil Mansion...?Story 3
Sakuya and the many maids she commands are entrusted with cleaning the Scarlet Devil Mansion. It's an enormous task, even with all those maids. Infinite rooms and windows, never-ending hallways, and priceless ornaments beyond count... Without even considering the grounds or outer walls, it doesn't seem possible for the maids to clean it all. However, once a task has been given, it's the head maid's role to see it done, no matter how impossible it may seem. Oh, that's right, we haven't yet touched on Sakuya's ability...Story 4
In the name of their beloved mistress and the Scarlet Devil Mansion, which she holds so dear, maids must be prepared to forget about themselves and dedicate everything to their work. However, with her body fatigued, Sakuya once muttered to herself with a heavy sigh, "Stopping time is the only thing that makes this possible." It's hard to argue with that. After all, even with an ability as remarkable as manipulating time, she's still only human.Story 5
Despite that, Sakuya continues to fight. Fighting sits alongside cleaning as one of a maid's fundamental tasks. This type of fighting is not metaphorical but literal-at least in the case of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. There's dust that piles without end; glass windows that dirty and smudge; sweet wrappers thrown carelessly on the ground; chunks of shattered walls and ornaments; fairy intruders making mischief; a shrine maiden looking for a fight; and much more. Things that demand "cleaning" appear in all corners of the mansion without a day's rest. And all are dealt with by Sakuya's swift hand.
