Doppel Detail (May Contain Spoiler)
The master of this emotion tries to save all of existence. This Doppel appears as a huge floating Soul Gem. Once it is summoned, it creates an existence within which all things around it are consumed, and then takes control of everything within that existence. After that, it floats higher into the air and a shower of light arrows rains down. While all of this is happening, the master of this emotion sleeps inside the huge Soul Gem.

PvE Stories Pros and Cons
DoubleDoka
Madoka is widely used along with a support Madoka to create a duo focused on spamming their Magia. Since Madoka's Magia and Connect increase MP, the two of them can sustainably fire off continuous Magia with the help of memoria granting MP Gain Up. Because her connect also heals, the Madokas are also very difficult to kill. This is especially good for farming, since Magia animations can be disabled when on Auto; it is widely understood to be one of the fastest ways to clear through battles.
Low Attack
Madoka's only real drawback is her low attack, making her fairly mediocre outside of the DoubleDoka Strategy.
PvP Mirrors Pros and Cons
Solid Tank
Madoka is a decent tank, due to her fairly high HP and DEF. Her Connect is also useful for supporting glass cannons from being killed as well as allow them to quickly charge up Magia.
High Mirrors End Too Quickly
Madoka only really fits into the tank role in Mirrors, and most of the other 5★ tank units are better than she is at it. Moreover, both her heal and MP gain become less relevant later in mirrors, where games will end too quickly for them to be useful.
When facing a team with Madoka, track # of disks she have used. If she's not close to her Connect, she can usually be left to clog the enemy's disk pool without consequence. By the time she is able to Connect, the rest of the team will hopefully be dead and you can take her out without worry.
Memoria Recommendations
- If using the double Madoka strategy, add memoria with MP Gain Up or possibly her personal, Madoka's Notebook, which changes all disks to Accele and will allow for quick MP building.
- If running her as a tank, add memoria with Guardian, like The Sunlight That Shines Into the Complex, since her DEF is high and she may not draw attacks on her otherwise. If planning to try to Magia with your team, Madoka's Notebook may be a good choice here too.

Magical Girl Background (May Contain Spoiler)
An incredibly gifted magical girl with a gentle personality.
Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi arrived in Kamihama after Mami Tomoe had told them of her investigations.
While sightseeing at a shrine there, they came across Shizuku Hozumi, who had overspent some of her magic and was exhausted. It seems Shizuku had been transporting herself around the globe in search of the place where she belongs but overdid it. Madoka gets her an iced drink and gets her back on her feet. After making a prayer at the shrine, it begins to rain so Madoka and Homura go into a nearby bookshop.
There they meet Kako Natsume and her and Madoka reminisce over a book. Eventually they part ways only for them to bump into each other once more at a bookstore in the mall, both having sought the sequel to the book they were talking about earlier. Kako notices the soul gem ring on Madoka’s hand and tells her that she too is a magical girl. She invites her to a special night-time adventure at her school next week.
Some time later, it's night as Madoka meets up with Kako at her school. They use their powers to reach the roof, where Kako shows her the starry sky and explains it's a reference from the book the both liked. Kako admits she's shy and has trouble talking to others, but not to Madoka and showing her these stars was her way of thanking her.
Madoka and Homura eventually meet up with Mami at Kamihama and they all three fight off a witch. They notice that there are some innocent people trapped in the barrier, which is when Sasara Minagi arrives. Sasara is thankful the people aren’t hurt and thanks the trio for protecting them. Mami says there aren’t many other magical girls who think like Sasara does Sasara asks them to join her as a rescue team, but the girls decline since they are already in a team and live out of town. Sasara thanks them and departs. After they all return to Mitakihara, they have tea at Mami’s place.

Doppel Background

Gretchen is the name of Faust’s lover in the play by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
There are multiple references to Faust throughout the original anime series. Literary studies have suggested that Faust refers to the girl as Margarete (meaning pearl) at the beginning because of her purity and innocence, and changes to the diminutive Gretchen after their intercourse to deride her spoiled purity. In the same way, the fact that this witch is named Gretchen, rather than Margarete, could represent the corruption of Madoka's soul.
Towards the end of the play, Faust attempts to save Gretchen from being executed but Gretchen renounces him and ascends to heaven. This could mirror how Madoka declined making a wish for selfish reasons and instead sacrificed herself for others. As the Witch of Salvation, this could reflect Madoka’s desire to save everyone.
Kriemhild Gretchen’s true form as a giant soul gem was first revealed in the PSP game Madoka Magica Portable. Her grief seed has black wings and a symbol that represents a shooting star. Black wings are associated with fallen angels, whereas shooting stars are often associated with wishes.
In her Anime Japan 2017 card description (displayed prior to the game’s release), the doppel is described as having “powers similar to that of a god’s”. This is likely a reference to the fact that Madoka becomes a god of magical girls. Her doppel even bears a crown and angelic wings mimicing the ones she bears as Ultimate Madoka.
The actual large, black, cage-like form shown in the anime’s episode 12 is likely the outer form of the witch with the real form being the soul gem shape deep inside. When Madoka releases her doppel, her form is surrounded by the cage-like barrier of the form seen in the anime. According to witch animator and designer InuCurry, Kriemhild Gretchen's outer form is meant to look like the bottom half of a sand timer and Walpurgis Nacht the top half. Homura Akemi’s shield also bears a sand timer as part of its mechanisms.
The fact that Madoka sleeps within her doppel means she’s not aware of her final form as Kriemhild Gretchen. Therefore Madoka is not aware that she is destined to become a witch capable of razing the earth. Her doppel also emerges from her heart, which looks similar to the wraith that took on Madoka’s form in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Wraith Arc.
The in-game description states that the doppel “embraces all of its surroundings in arrows of light”. Arrows of light is the translated name of the soundtrack that plays during the final episode: Sagitta Luminis.
