A new feature in the Google Play Store may save some players a bit of money.

Google Play Points, a new system built in to the Google Play app, is a feature that gives points to your Google account whenever money is spent in the Google Play infrastructure.

Between 1 to 3 points are earned per dollar spent in the Google Play store on games, books, or movies. Collecting enough points will allow players to redeem in-app credit for some of their favorite games.

Some of the current games supported are:

You can earn 3 points per dollar when first signed up for the service, but after that, it's dependent on your Perk Level.

Initially, players must earn 150 points to get out of Bronze, where you earn 1 point per dollar spent. Silver increases that by 10%, Gold by 20%, and Platinum by 40%.

It takes 600 points to get into Gold, and 3000 points for Platinum, which comes with the exclusive perk of priority customer support with dedicated help agents.
