Wing and Force Impulse - Should You Pull?

Pilots!

Today we've got another addition of Should You Pull, brought to you by AetherRose on our discord server. Check out our assessment of this week's banner below!

Hello again and welcome to another week! Unfortunately, they finally broke the cycle of giving us HC and we didn’t get many Haro Chips this week, but at least they’re making up for it by giving us Wing Gundam! Wing Gundam is a fan favorite and, like the Deathscythe, one of the more purchased gunpla. In addition they’ve graced us with living cardboard cut-out, Mikazuki, who’s showing up as a defender!

This week we got 770 Haro Chips, and here’s how:

  • 150 - Login Bonus
  • 140 - Daily Achievements
  • 100 - Event Login
  • 210 - Mission Completion
  • 170 - Arena Participation

Let’s set up some ground rules so you know exactly what to expect and how you should be treating this!

This is entirely my opinion, but I will do my best to justify my opinion and explain to you why I feel a certain way. If at all possible, I’ll use real numbers as well and present an objective outlook before my opinion.

Do not pull on the banner hoping for a single Part. It’s 0.2% for a single Part, which is 50x 10-pulls or 500 pulls. In terms of real money, that’s 5,400 USD.

SS is considered meta defining, S is meta, A is great, B is average, C is below average, D is considered well below average, and F is awful. Parts are compared to all other Parts as a whole and on how well they synergize with other Parts. This means a 4* and a 3* would be compared to everything as low as a 1* to as high as other 4*s.

There are some notations which aren’t immediately obvious:

An EX Skill with D/B at 21/6 CD means it has a D in Power, B in Piercing, a 21 second cooldown, and it’s available for use 6 seconds after the match starts.

All stats, letters, and numbers are at Max Value.

With all of that out of the way, let’s get right into the new banner and what we’re looking at this week!

This week is a normal banner, which means it will be going to Standard Gunpla Parts Capsule 2 when the week is up.

Wing Gundam (4*) and Force Impulse (4*)

Banner Grade: A

Summary: This banner has a 1.8% (5.95%) chance of drawing something above average, and a 0.2% (0.66%) chance of drawing something of great value or higher.

Honestly, this banner has nothing spectacular but a lot of above-average Parts. This is the perfect banner for F2P players, but not a very good banner for whales. I mean, unless that whale has a sense of humor and wants Self-Destruct.

I would not skip.

Prime Pool percentages are in parenthesis

Wing Gundam

Head: B+

This head isn’t too bad at an above-average 2785 S.Atk and middling Resistances of 418 B.Res and 213 P.Res. The head-mounted vulcans are every head EX Skill ever. Finally, it has middling Word Tags with Transformer and Long-Range.

Chest: A

Bandai is just memeing on us now, right? This Part’s EX Skill is… Self-Destruct. For the low low price of 90% of your Max Armor, it has D/A with 21/6 CD. Which, I mean, if it wasn’t for losing the majority of your HP, would actually be really good. Still, I’m sure Heero loves it. Memes aside, the stats are actually really high with the best M.Atk and S.Atk of any chest, both at 797, and a really good 611 B.Res. The tags are a middling Transformer and Protag. Protag is very good, especially on a Chest with so much M.Atk.

Arms: A+

So, these Arms have really high M.Atk and S.Atk. They have the third-highest M.Atk, behind second place by only 1 point, and the highest S.Atk of any Arms. We finally see why Self-Destruct exists. Three of the Parts in this set have “When below 70% Armor” as a stipulation, and it reduces Enemy Melee Power by 30%. Finally, Transformer and Long Range are very decent Tags on Arms with such great S.Atk.

Legs: A+

The Legs in this set have the highest M.Atk of any Legs, at 797, not to mention very high Resistances with 418 B.Res and 611 P.Res. The Part Trait is solid with 20% extra Long Shot Damage when below 70% Armor, and Transformer and Gundam Type is a pretty flat Word Tag combination.

selfdestruct

Backpack: A+

Coming in hot with another great Part! This has the highest M.Atk of any Backpack at 797, above average Resistances at 611 B.res and 418 P.res, and when Armor is 70% or lower it boosts Long Shot Damage by 20%. The Word Tags on this are Transformer and Gundam Type.

M. Weapon: A-

Another strong Beam Saber with an above-average 3582 M.Atk, 12 below the highest, and increases Long-Shooter Job Gauge by 17%. Honestly, the passive is very lackluster even if you’re taking into consideration not a lot of Purple Rarity SR Weapons help ranged. Again, Transformer and Gundam Type plague this set.

R. Weapon: B+

Again, another strong Beam Rifle with an above average 3582 S.Atk. The EX Skill seems average, if not above average with A+/C- and 79/20 CD, coupled with Transformer and Long-Range.

Shield: S

This is the only Shield in the game that gives offensive stats, and they’re pretty good with 797 M.Atk and 384 S.Atk. Why is this Shield so special? Who knows, but thank Kira it is. Additionally, this comes with above average Resistances with 1029 B.Res and 0 P.Res and the same Word Tags of Transformer and Long-Range.

Aesthetics: SS+

The Chest literally has Self-Destruct. The rest is cool too, I guess.
If you have the Chest and you aren’t using Self-Destruct on something and I’m on your friend list, I want you to remove me. Get out of my life and never come back.

Force Impulse Gundam

Head: A-

The Force Impulse Head has a pretty standard S.Atk of 2377 and a really solid Part Trait “When Armor is 40% or more, Shooting CRIT boosted 30%”. Hell yeah! This finishes off with Gundam Type and For Tundra Word Tags, oh well.

Chest: B+

It doesn’t have Self Destruct instant F-. Jokes aside, we’re looking at average stats and an above average Armor of 1601. The Word Tags are Gundam Type and For Tundra again. The EX Skill is very interesting, as it’s A/D with 11 Magazine and 60/0 CD that is comparable to Gerbera Tetra’s Arms but with higher Parameters.

Arms: B

The Arms here sport a solid 2377 M.Atk, which is slightly above average, and boosts Strong Melee Critical by 30% if you’re Power Attribute. This one has Gundam Type and Mid-Range Word Tags on, which is slightly better.

Legs: A

These Legs have a surprisingly decent stat spread with 382 in both Atk values and very decent 416 B.Res and 609 P.Res. This is complemented by a low CD 21/6 EX Skill boasting D/A-. Again, this Part has Gundam Type and Mid-Range for Word Tags.

Backpack: A+

This Backpack has slightly above average Resistances and average stats aside. What shines here is the EX Skill, which is the special attack of this set. D/A with a 79/20 CD, recovers 48% Armor to the Squad, and raises B.Res of the Squad by 49%. The Resistance increase is situational, but this is a really strong heal and a really strong attack.

R. Weapon: B+

Again, another strong Beam Rifle with an above-average 3173 S.Atk. The Part Trait is rather solid with a 30% decrease to Enemy Shooting, so this really strikes me as more of a melee gunpla’s weapon. Maybe Out Fighter or Mid Shooter would benefit most from this, especially because it comes with the Protag. Word Tag.

Shield: B+

This Shield has average stats and a ranged Melee-Type EX Skill with A/D and 21/3s. Pretty good, but not great. Again, comes with Gundam Type and Protag. Word Tags.

Aesthetics: B

This boy is bulky is some areas and skinny in others, so it’s a real 50/50 mixed bag.

AI Pilots: Mikazuki Augus (4*) and Cima Garahau (3*)

Banner Grade: S

This banner is stacked with two defenders with good passives.

Surprised Mikazuki Augus: S+

Mikazuki Augus is one character I really hate, but I still dropped 6,000 HC to get him because he has the second highest M.Atk of any Pilot at 1182, not to mention a whopping 1182 S.Atk to add to that. Next, he throws on the Nutella syrup with a very good passive of Power Attribute (self), Initial EX Skill Charge boosted 20% that is effective with powerful EX Skills. Finally, he has the Protag. and For Desert Word Tags. Literally nothing about this Pilot is even average, let alone bad. The only reason Mikazuki isn’t SS is because he doesn’t do anything unique or something I’d consider a truly meta defining combination. Like Self Destructing. Okay, I’ll stop.

Cima Garahau: B+

I forgot who this is, so please flame me on the discord. She has far more average stats than Mika, but still pretty solid with a decent S.Atk and decent Armor. This is the kind of defender you’d need to manually play as to get full use out of, as she has high S.Atk, but she’ll still perform well on AI. Additionally, she comes with a passive: With Speed Attribute (self), Debuff EX Skill effect up 15%. This is the “defender” defender, where you want to focus on giving her Hate Up and two debuffs, and just let her be a pseudo melee supporter.
