Assets

  • +ATK: Due to Chad possessing high Speed naturally, he’ll benefit the most from an Attack asset to increase his raw damage output to more impressive levels.

  • +SPD: A Speed asset remains a fantastic option, as it allows Chad to perform and avoid follow-up attacks against all but the fastest units, although he may struggle to deal considerable damage to bulky threats such as Effie without an Attack asset.

Neutral

  • HP: At base 45, Chad possesses reasonably high HP, which allows him to take a hit if necessary. While an acceptable choice of flaw if no other options are available, keeping HP neutral is preferred to preserve Chad’s overall survivability.

  • DEF: Chad’s Defense is fairly middle of the road at base 26, and although an Asset is rewarded with a 4 point increase instead of the usual 3, Defense is best left neutral as an Attack and Speed asset are generally more useful.

Flaws

  • -RES: Chad’s Resistance rests at a lackluster base 23, making it the ideal choice of flaw for him as lowering it further will do little to affect his performance. In addition, Chad should still be able to take at least one magical damage hit due to his reasonably high HP.

A Swift Sparrow (2 or 3)
Alternate: Atk/Spd Solo 3
Reposition B Desperation 3
Luna C Drive Spd 2
IVsSSturdy Blow 2
Alternate: Flashing Blade 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK or +SPD / -RES

  • Chad prefers to bolster either his raw damage output or his ability to perform follow-up attacks with either an Attack or Speed asset respectively. Resistance is the chosen flaw, as it affects his performance the least.

Weapon: Barb Shuriken(+SPD) / Dragonslasher(+SPD) / Sky Maiougi(+SPD) / Dusk Uchiwa(+SPD)

  • The Barb Shuriken is a fantastic choice of Dagger for Chad, as it allows him significantly quicker access to its specials thanks to its permanent -1 Special cooldown.

  • The Dragonslasher and other effective damage daggers can also be used to inflict effective damage against a wide variety of units, allowing Chad to check some threats his team would normally struggle with.

Assist: Reposition / Preference

Special: Luna

  • Luna is easily Chad’s best choice of special due to its high defense reduction and reasonably fast cooldown, which gives Chad an easier time breaking through bulky foes when his Special triggers.

Passive A: Swift Sparrow 2 or 3 / Atk/Spd Solo

  • Swift Sparrow is one of the best offensive A slot skills available as it grants the user a massive boost to both Attack and Speed when initiating with no downside, boosting Chad’s Player Phase damage output considerably.

  • Atk/Spd Solo serves a similar purpose, with the added benefit of remaining active during Enemy Phase if its activation condition is met, although its positioning requirement can be awkward at times.

Passive B: Desperation / Special Spiral / Chill Def

  • Desperation allows Chad to attack twice before the opponent can counterattack if he performs a follow-up attack, letting Chad avoid potentially dangerous counterattacks once he enters Desperation’s HP threshold.

  • Special Spiral grants its user -2 Special cooldown after combat if its user’s special triggers, allowing Chad to gain even faster access to his Special after its initial activation.

  • Finally, Chill Defense can be utilized to inflict a -7 Defense debuff to the enemy with the highest Defense, making the afflicted foe more susceptible to physical damage from Chad and his team.

Passive C: Drive Spd / Preference

  • Drive Speed allows Chad to give his allies a +3 Speed buff during combat as long as he’s within 2 spaces of them, but what C slot skill Chat uses is ultimately up to the needs of the team and player preference.

Sacred Seal: Sturdy Blow / Flashing Blade

  • Sturdy Blow grants a +4 bonus to Chad’s Attack and Defense when he initiates combat, allowing him to both hit harder and take Physical hits easier during Player Phase.

  • The Flashing Blade Sacred Seal can also be used to quicken Chad’s Special access further, although its fairly redundant if Special Spiral is being used unless one chooses to utilize a Special with a longer cooldown.

Believe It! (AR Vantage)

Build by
Broadleaf Fan+ (+Atk) A Close Counter
Reposition B Vantage 3
Moonbow C Pulse Smoke 3
IVsSFierce Stance 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK / -RES

  • An Attack Asset is vital to maximize Chad’s Damage output when utilizing Vantage. Resistance is once again the ideal flaw, as the rest of Chad’s stats are more important.

Weapon: Broadleaf Fan(+ATK)

  • The Broadleaf Fan allows Chad to inflict additional Damage equal to the Debuffs inflicted on foes in combat. When combined with the Broadleaf Fan’s innate -7 Defense and Resistance Debuff after combat and Atk or Spd Smoke, Chad can reliably inflict +21 Damage to foes without any help from his team, provided he initiates first.

Assist: Reposition / Preference

Special: Moonbow

  • When utilizing Vantage, a low cooldown Special is ideal in order to inflict additional damage as often as possible with Special activations. As such, Moonbow is a fantastic choice as it allows Chad to break through bulky foes easier while activating frequently due to its short cooldown.

Passive A: Close Counter

  • Close Counter is essential to this build as it allows Chad to counterattack melee foes, who he would otherwise be helpless against on Enemy Phase.

Passive B: Vantage

  • Vantage is the crux of this build, as it allows Chad to Attack before his foe during Enemy Phase when his HP is 75% or lower. This allows Chad to sweep multiple foes easily during Enemy Phase when combined with the Broadleaf Fan and Close Counter, provided the Foe is debuffed.

Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Preference

  • Pulse Smoke is an invaluable skill against Infantry Pulse based defense teams, as it allows Chad to deactivate their instantly charged Specials by increasing their Special cooldown by 1 after combat.

Sacred Seal: Fierce Stance

  • Fierce Stance grants +6 Attack during Enemy Phase, making it Chad’s best choice of Sacred Seal to maximize his damage output when utilizing Vantage.

Introduction

Chad makes a surprise entrance to the world of Fire Emblem Heroes as an Infantry Dagger unit with solid stats. His offensive spread of 30/37 is well suited to performing follow-up attacks, although Chad’s Attack could use improvement via an asset. Chad’s HP is also fairly high at base 45, allowing him to easily take a hit if needed in spite of his rather mediocre defenses. As a dagger unit, Chad also has access to a wide variety of powerful weapons, such as the Dragonslasher and Broadleaf Fan.

Unfortunately, Chad is fairly unremarkable when compared to fellow Dagger infantry units such as Sothe and Saizo, who both possess powerful unique weapons that grant them a niche Chad lacks access to. Legault also gives Chad harsh competition due to his superior offensive spread. In addition, Chad’s defensive capabilities are also fairly lackluster with only base 26 Defense and 23 Resistance respectively, and Chad will struggle to survive more than one hit regardless of its damage type. Overall though, Chad is a reasonably strong choice for a Dagger unit, but he falls somewhat short in comparison to other Dagger users who possess exclusive weapons and superior offensive statlines.

Strengths

Strong Weapon Options

As a dagger unit, Chad has access to a wide variety of powerful weapons that no other weapon type has access to, such as Effective Daggers and the Broadleaf Fan.

Good Offensive Spread

Chad’s Offensive Spread of 30/37 leaves him well suited to performing follow-up attacks while retaining decent damage output, although his Attack could use improvement via Skills and an Asset.

Weaknesses

Poor Defenses

At base 26 and 23 for Defense and Resistance respectively, Chad’s defensive capabilities leave much to be desired. While his high HP will allow him to take at least one hit from foes, Chad will fall quickly to sustained offensive pressure.

Outclassed

While Chad is hardly the worst of his class, other infantry daggers such as Sothe and Legault simply outclass Chad by virtue of their superior statlines and in the case of Sothe, an exclusive weapon.
