On December 19, 2019, GamePress officially launched its new initiative called GamePress Boost. It marks the first time we are asking our users for financial help due to the position we are in.

It's been a tumultuous year for us here at GamePress HQ. We've grown to be a community with over 100+ contributors and millions of page views a year. Thank you for all of your support thus far.

GamePress Boost

GamePress has had a unique upbringing; like a lot of tech startups, we began operation in a college dorm room with a few friends for the first part of our existence. We never have received venture capital funding like other tech companies, we don’t do sponsored content, and we only see revenue off the ads embedded into the pages. If you use an ad-blocking service, then you are using GamePress for free, and we will never ask our users to disable it, even though there are no additional revenue streams for us(except for a defunct Patreon we tried over a year ago).

To maintain the same platform we have worked for years, we’re going to be starting a premium subscription service. This will be a $3 or more monthly contribution that will grant you ad-free viewing for GamePress without needing to use an ad blocker. Users will also receive a badge on their account in the community forums.

After you contribute, you can also select which GamePress teams you would like your contribution to support. We will use that information to divert funds to projects that you want to see more from!

For the cost of 3 Raid Passes, 5 Fire Emblem Heroes Orbs, or a little less than 5 Saint Quartz, you can help GamePress realize its full potential and live to see 2020 in its current state.

About GamePress HQ

GamePress's office is located in Austin, Texas and supports 12 full-time employees. We're located downtown and have been here for over a year, having made the move from Honolulu, Hawai'i to help grow our company to what it is today. Relocating to Austin was not easy; nine people from four different states upended their lives to make GamePress succeed in a place that has a lot more opportunity.

Since moving here, we recruited four local Texans to help GamePress become the database company you see today.
