Meta Shift: Pinnacle of Saiyans' Evolution

Overview

GT is back again, this time with a serious intent to take over the Meta. The new Step-up arrives boasting unexpectedly good mechanics and overshadowing the dull and boring Zenkai Banners that have generated quite the fuss when released yesterday.

There are a couple of things that make this Step-Up better than the past few, namely the smaller Chrono Crystal Cost per cycle, the presence of multiple “EX or higher” Multis -- One of those can be performed in every cycle --, the presence of a “x2 Rates for new Fighters “ summon and lastly the absence of a new LF Fighter.

In fact, SP Angry Goku BLU and SP Super Vegito PUR are there instead and it’s nice to get another chance at summoning them in a Step-Up Banner. Truth to be told, the SP SSJ4 Goku PUR and SP SSJ4 Vegeta RED could basically be considered LFs thanks to how good and funny to look at their toolkits are, thus them being available at 1% rates is something to be grateful for.

Effects on the Meta

GT

As obvious as it is, GT is in the spotlight. All the new Fighters are meant to make it better and they do a fantastic job. This Team already had a decent Ability Bonus basis thanks to SP Kid Goku RED and SP Super #17 GRN, they just needed somebody that could carry the Team.

SP SSJ4 Goku PUR and SP SSJ4 Vegeta RED are the main Fighters, they’re just oppressive in many ways. Offensively, SP SSJ4 Vegeta RED is better right off the bat since his Blast Damage gets a 80% Boost every time he switches in and his Strike Damage is respectable, while SP SSJ4 Goku PUR only reaches those levels in mid Game. Defensively, it’s a no contest, SP SSJ4 Goku PUR runs the show thanks to constant his Damage Reduction and Healing.

SP Super Baby 2 BLU is the perfect Support for them, as he magnifies both their Offense and goku’s Healing capabilities.

Both SP Super Baby 2 BLU and SP SSJ4 Vegeta RED can avoid debuffs like SP SSR Black RED’s, so all things considered this Team will be really hard to put down.

Overall, GT is arguably the best Team in the Game.

Saiyan

The new SSJ4 Fighters work very well on Saiyan too, SP Angry Goku BLU was waiting for comrades like them. The trio is just spectacular in Battle, they truly feel like the three best Fighters in the Game together. Thanks to SP SSJ4 Goku’s Son Family Z-Ability, SP Angry Goku BLU has great synergy unlike in the past when he had to share the floor with Fusion Warriors.

Compared to GT, this Team is less durable due to the worse Healing capabilities, but it’s definitely better in Late Game situations thanks to SP Angry Goku BLU.

The Team is pretty decent Defensively thanks to having two Fighters with Damage Reduction, and the Offense is just constantly off the charts. Just like GT, they’re contenders for the top spot.

Son Family

The new SP SSJ4 Goku RED replaces SP SSJ Kid Goten PUR on Son Family and finally makes it possible for this Team to fully become Strike Based. He works very well with SP SSJ Youth Gohan YEL, who is still a terrifying Fighter thanks to his Lock-in. As the third Fighter, even if SP Angry Goku BLU prefers Blast Cards to Strike ones, he’s your best bet as he’s still very powerful overall.

The Team still feels the need of better Synergy, as SP SSJ Youth Gohan YEL will not Buff anybody other than himself on here, but SP SSJ4 Goku PUR’s sheer Strength surely makes the Team much better and not as reliant on LFs as before anymore.

Vegeta Family

SP SSJ4 Vegeta is Blast oriented but make no mistake, he fits greatly on the Vegeta Family Team due to how incredibly versatile he is Offensively. His Arts Draw Speed and Debuffs make him inflict high Damage regardless of which Card he’s going to use, also thanks to SP Teen Trunks’ Support.

His Main Ability adds even more Damage Support to the mix for the Team, making Vegeta Family incredibly scary when it comes to beat enemies to death.

Still, the new addition doesn’t fix some of the historical problems this Team has, like the lack of Defense and the low Z-Abilities Synergy all things considered.

Regeneration

Regeneration is back to square one: great Offense, high Healing capabilities, underwhelming Defensively. At least SP Super Baby 2 BLU is pretty Tanky and overall his presence makes the whole Team better at everything.

Ideally, it’d still take the addition of a very Defensive Fighter to make this Team comparable to some of the stronger ones, but this is a step in the right direction that’ll surely make Main Regeneration Players happy.

Should You Pull?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: the two Banners provide you the means to make some of the best Teams in the Game, like GT and Saiyan. Especially in GT’s case, every Fighter you could ever need on the Team is featured and fairly common to get if you have a decent amount of Chrono Crystals saved.

Since you’re likely to at least like these new Fighters a little bit, everybody should consider going all in since you’ll have a very fun time in PVP with the new Fighters.
