Tier Z

What makes an EX Fighter ‘Z Tier’?

The Extreme Tier List functions entirely different than the Sparking Tier List, so it’s important to carefully read the descriptions as to not conflate the two. A disproportionate amount of EX Fighters are simply not viable and are generally looked to for bench support.

The Z Tier, however, is reserved for EX Rarity Fighters that are extremely powerful core Fighters in their respective Teams. These Fighters see consistent play and could make a case for being in the upper echelon of SP Rarity Fighters in terms of effectiveness.

EX Gogeta (Red)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2424941
Strike ATK 237812
Blast ATK 214960
Strike DEF 159881
Blast DEF 161997

Why this Tier?

  • He’s hard to pull, SP Super Gogeta RED is better on the core.
  • He has excellent Support, Defensive, and Offensive capabilities.

Discussion

He’s basically like EX Whis RED of last year in terms of effectiveness. He gives Fusion Warriors a 10% Damage inflicted Buff (up to 30%) and restores Ki by 20 when switched to standby. He reduces Damage by 70% the first time he’s attacked, which can be deceptively effective if he’s kept on the sideline until the enemy uses a Rising Rush or Ultimate Move. His Extra Move also restores Vanish Gauge by 100% the first time it’s used.

Tier 1

What makes an EX Fighter ‘Tier 1’?

These Fighters represent the last batch of EX Rarity Fighters that are recommended in PVP in any consistent fashion. They are definitely not as powerful as Z Tier Fighters, but are justifiable to bring along IF the Player is missing a few core Fighters.

EX Super Trunks (Purple)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2340262
Strike ATK 244284
Blast ATK 226856
Strike DEF 147271
Blast DEF 149666

Why this Tier?

Discussion

His Strike and Blast arts are powerful, and he gets exponentially stronger if a Vegeta variant is killed, unfortunately he’s a third wheel on Vegeta Family. Alternatively, there’s better choices on Hybrid Saiyans as well. He’s really just a replacement for superior core fighters, but he’s not bad at all.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2278962
Strike ATK 211765
Blast ATK 211765
Strike DEF 155480
Blast DEF 160394

Why this Tier?

  • He’s a good Support Fighter for the GT Tag, but he’s not as good as SP Super Baby 2 BLU
  • His “Envoy of Ruin” is debilitating for the enemy Team, as he destroys 2 Dragon Balls when defeated.

Discussion:

He’s a good tech option against Saiyans, as he lowers their card draw speed and increases their Damage received when faced with one. He’s also useful when dead or alive. That being said, it’s still hard to justify him on the core over SP Super Baby 2.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2279319
Strike ATK 220349
Blast ATK 235269
Strike DEF 149994
Blast DEF 148225

Why this Tier?

  • He’ll be stuck behind SP SSGSS Vegeta GRN and SP Trunks (Kid) GRN  from now until the end of time.
  • He’s actually still quite useful as a replacement, and his Main Ability is very hard to play around.

Discussion

EX Super Vegeta GRN’s Main Ability takes away the opposing units Vanish Gauge completely and leaves them open to a devastating Special Move. He also has some Support in his toolkit. His real problem lies with a Legends Limited fighter sharing his color, which will always keep him in Tier 2 or lower.

Strike DEF 153514
Blast DEF 150739

Why this Tier?

  • He has a good Damage output against many popular Tags

  • He works well with SP SSJ Bardock BLU

Discussion:

EX SSJ Broly YEL is a destructive anti-Saiyan, anti-Hybrid, anti-Goku Fighter with some Support qualities thrown in for good measure. His Z-Ability is a bit awkward outside of a Yellow Color Counter Team, but he does synergize with SP SSJ Bardock BLU after his Zenkai boost

Explanation

Stats

HP 2142957

Strike DEF 158691
Blast DEF 158691

Why this Tier?

  • His stats and toolkit are still serviceable.

  • He’s part of one of the better Tags in the game.

Discussion:

EX Whis RED actually had one of the longest runs in Z-Tier for any Fighter, it was just on the EX Tier List. Now that it's been disbanded, he's found his way onto the general tier list.

Despite his age, he has a lot of appeal right now alongside SP Goku Black GRN. Goku Black very much appreciates the extra Ki Recovery as well as Extra Move Whis brings along.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2259748
Strike ATK 202323
Blast ATK 230498
Strike DEF 148084
Blast DEF 150644

Why this Tier?

  • He’s no longer the primary Purple Fighter for the Regeneration Tag.

  • He does just about everything outside of reliable Strike Attack, and has great Equip choices.

Discussion:

EX Nail PUR provided Regeneration with a solid core Fighter, and went a long way to rebuilding the Tag when he was released. He was eventually replaced by SP Android #21 PUR, but he’s still the next best thing if the Player is missing her.

EX Recoome (Blue)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2380530
Strike ATK 215660
Blast ATK 210356
Strike DEF 158686
Blast DEF 159423

Why this Tier?

  • His Health and Defenses are both very high

  • His Main Ability provides a Team Heal, which is an invaluable addition to the new Ginyu Force Team.

Discussion:

Akin to the anime, EX Recoome BLU is very hard to take down and keeps coming for more the more of a beating he takes. His Strike Attack and durability make him difficult to play against, and his Heal on his Main Ability is a welcome addition to an otherwise fragile Team outside of himself. Ginyu Force is not as effective as it once was, but EX Recoome BLU has aged the best and is still insufferably durable.

Tier 2

What makes an EX Fighter ‘Tier 2’?

These Fighters are not recommended in the core at all, but they own a Z-Ability that is very useful for a top Tag Teams bench.

EX Perfect Form Cell (Purple)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2324639
Strike ATK 211686
Blast ATK 219414
Strike DEF 146723
Blast DEF 147900

Why this Tier?

  • He's honestly pretty bad, and will never see core play on Future.
  • His Z-Ability is excellent.

Discussion

He's going to be behind SP Fusion Zamasu PUR on the core for eternity, but he’s actually an amazing Defensive bench for the Future Tag which is among of the best Teams in the game, which fits the Tier 2 description.

Why this Tier?

  • He has an extremely important Z-Ability for the growing GT Tag

Discussion

Despite having no business seeing play over SP SSJ Goku PUR, he’s still pretty solid on his own and his Z-Ability is crucial.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2241868
Strike ATK 198885
Blast ATK 220507
Strike DEF 142676
Blast DEF 148449

Why this Tier?

  • His Z-Ability at 5 stars makes him great for the God Ki bench.

  • Despite decent stats, he’s underwhelming in PVP and holds two Blast Arts Cards

Discussion:

EX Zamasu GRN’s Z-Ability is excellent, but everything else falls short. He’s a one dimensional Ranged Fighter, can’t reliably lower his Blast Arts Card cost, and basically has no business ever seeing core play. His Z-Ability is nice though, justifying the Tier 2 placement.

  • His 5 star Z-Ability is hard to acquire, but it’s extremely effective

Discussion

He’s a good replacement for SP FF FP Frieza YEL on the core, and has a double Offensive Z-Ability at 5 stars for Lineage of Evil, at the very least making him a very good bench option for quite a while.

Why this Tier?

  • He actually has a case for being the fastest in the universe, given his multiple Vanish Gauge Recovery Buffs.

  • His Special Move hits like a freight train.

Discussion:

On release, EX Burter YEL had one of the most devastating Special Moves this game has ever seen, but he and his Team have simply fallen a bit behind the Meta.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2574612
Strike ATK 251674
Blast ATK 251064
Strike DEF 167400
Blast DEF 166446

Why this Tier?

  • He’s a good Support Fighter for the Ginyu Force

  • His Main Ability prevents switching for both Teams, although this will usually be advantageous for him.

Discussion:

EX Ginyu PUR is rewarded simply for being paired with other Ginyu Force Fighters, by increasing his own Damage, Ki Recovery Speed, and decreasing the cost of both his Strike and Blast Arts Cards. He in turn gives his Teammates some Damage Buffs when switched to standby, as well as the capability of trapping an Enemy Fighter. All of this is great for an EX Rarity Fighter, but the Ginyu Force is not what it once was.

Why this Tier?

  • While one-dimensional in his Attack, his dimension is pretty effective.

  • Ginyu Force has been a bit power crept.

Discussion:

EX Jeice RED has a great Blast-centric toolkit, great Equip options, and a great Extra Move. He works well with fellow Ranged Fighter SP Golden Frieza GRN due to his Main Ability changing all Strike Arts Cards to Blast Arts Cards, SP Golden Frieza GRN in return protects him from Blue Fighters

With Ginyu Force not being as great anymore, he's bumped down to Tier 2. His Z-Ability is still excellent.

Why this Tier?

  • His Z-Ability at 5 stars is a must for Sagas Warriors.

  • He provides excellent Support for his Team through his two Unique Abilities.

Discussion:

While his stats have since fallen off considerably, his Z-Ability and Support qualities give him staying power on the bench, although recent Sagas Warriors releases are making this harder for him as well.

  • He's no longer that great on the core.

EX Chilled YEL is listed as a Ranged Fighter, but does quite a bit for his Teammates--mostly through Debuffing Damage Received whenever he enters the battlefield. He also enables his Teammates’ Blast Arts Cards to potentially inflict Paralyze. That being said, his only real use anymore is his Z-Ability.

  • He provides a dual Z-Ability for Sagas from the Movies Teams at 5 stars, but SP Goku GRN has bumped him out of the core.

  • He’s hard to justify in the core over SP Golden Frieza GRN.

Discussion:

EX Guldo GRN is not very impressive in a Match, but he does carry an almost-guaranteed Heavy Immobilize, a similar effect to inflicting faint. Again, he’s hard to use over SP Golden Frieza GRN, but his Health Z-Ability is a must-have for the bench.

Tier 3

What makes an EX Fighter ‘Tier 3’?

This Tier is reserved for EX Rarity Fighters who’s Z-Ability is not effective in the current Meta, or Buff a certain color. If a specific Tag/color counter Team becomes viable, some of them can see a move up to Tier 2. For example: If the “Android” Tag is not Meta relevant, even a double Z-Ability buffer can end up here. If they become relevant, they can move up. Some Fighters in this Tier might still be somewhat usable in PVP, but have been replaced in the core multiple times over.

  • God Ki already has access to so many other good Fighters and Z-Abilities, that he has trouble finding a spot on the Team.

Discussion:

EX GoD Beerus YEL has a somewhat similar problem as EX Mai PUR in the sense that he has a good toolkit, but is increasingly hard to bring along due to an anti-Synergistic Z-Ability in a crowded Tag.
