+ Trait: Attacks all enemies in range, less likely to be targeted, 50% Arts and Physical dodge

Operator Overview

"I'm Manticore... My power is to kill people silently... Don't be afraid, you're not... my target..."

Shy, gentle, and... deadly? An embodiment of the Stalker Specialist archetype, Manticore is a stealthy Operator with AoE attacks who Slows, Stuns, and slaughters her foes from the shadows.

Manticore specializes in stealth and survival. Her archetype's Trait allows her to attack all enemies within her range while also making her less likely to be targeted and granting her 50% Physical and Arts Dodge. Furthermore, Manticore has Block-0, so melee enemies cannot directly attack her. The only threat to Manticore is ranged damage, and even this is somewhat mitigated by her Hidden Killer Talent. Hidden Killer puts Manticore into an Invisible state (cannot be targeted or damaged, even with splash damage) when not actively attacking, and it also provides an ATK bonus for her first attack every time she comes out of Invisibility.

Manticore’s Skills aim to make the most out of her Trait and Talent. Her first Skill, Scorpion Venom, Slows all enemy units she hits. It is one of the few Slowing options in the game with 100% uptime, and because it is a "Move_speed" type Slow, it stacks with the more common slows that are of the "Sluggish" type (for example, Slower Supporter slows are of the "Sluggish" type). This is the Skill that she is most often used for in difficult content.

Her second Skill, Toxic Overload, decreases her Attack Speed but increases her ATK and Stuns enemies. Combined with her Talent upgrade at E2, her second Skill enables every attack to gain the Talent bonus. This Skill + E2 promotion gives Manticore decent DPS for her archetype and is good for disrupting large groups of enemies. If a player wants to use Manticore for a more DPS-focused role, this Skill can be a good choice. In general, however, there are better options for filling the DPS role and her S1 is better for pure crowd control.

Manticore's specialized capabilities do come with some weaknesses. As a melee unit with a relatively high DP cost, slow ASPD, and no blocking capability, effective map knowledge and prior planning is necessary to maximize her strengths. Furthermore, although Manticore has very effective survival tools, her re-stealth time still leaves her vulnerable to enemy counterattacks. Drawbacks aside, when utilized effectively, Manticore can wreak havoc at the heart of the enemy formations. Manticore's story is a tale of practice: it takes effort to maximize her potential, but with the correct preparation, her enemies have every reason to fear her lethal presence.

Elite Promotion Discussion

  • Her Talent, Hidden Killer, is Manti-core to her mechanics and usability.  Her Skill 2, Toxic Overload, increases her Attack Interval to 5.2 seconds.  At E2, the time it takes for her to return to stealth mode lowers from 6 to 5 seconds.  This means that every attack during Skill 2 gets the damage bonus from her Talent, which is also doubled at E2!  Thus, the improvements at E2 (in attack bonus and reduced re-stealth time) can make a big difference if she is part of your squad.

There aren't many slows in the game with 100% uptime. Manticore's S1 is one of them and it is very good for that reason. More Story-centric players might not notice a massive difference though, especially as the cost increases sharply at M3, and she is especially weak in the Roguelike where the cheaper Ethan is usually the better pick.

Profile

Much of Manticore's history is unknown. It is known that prior to her employment at Rhodes Island, she had engaged in the 'removal' of certain individuals. She has excellent stealth, infiltration, and surprise attack skills.
Now she serves as a special kind of Operator who provides these unique services for Rhodes Island.

Imaging tests have shown the outlines of her internal organs to be indistinct due to abnormal shadows. Originium granules have been detected in her circulatory system, confirming her to be infected with Oripathy.

Manticore is gentle, shy, and sometimes even gives others the feeling that she's afraid. She speaks in a hesitant tone and often stammers. She rarely finishes a sentence in one attempt, and she appears very stiff when communicating with other Operators. She would probably be more comfortable talking to a rock.
Additionally, her rare invisibility ability has become a major hindrance to communication. It has completely prevented her from improving her interpersonal skills. It may be necessary to suggest additional treatment solutions to help Manticore develop her social skills.

We communicate with Manticore by writing messages on paper. Oripathy has given her the ability to turn invisible (the report on this ability needs additional processing). It has been confirmed through interactive experiments that her ability does not transfer to inanimate objects, so paper communication has proved a suitable way to communicate with this operator.
After communication, Manticore likes to leave behind little gifts that smell sweetly of violets.

Manticore was born in Sargon. Because most of the background she provided could not be validated, Manticore's experience cannot be confirmed. What is known is that Manticore has undergone relatively comprehensive special operations training and has at least one year of operative experience under her belt.
The investigation into her special operations training unit was unsuccessful, and Sargon intelligence did not provide any valuable clues. Currently only unconfirmed and less than reliable intelligence from Sargon spies indicate there is a group of people who house Originium Arts users with special abilities in this area. These individuals are using special training methods to kill Sargon aristocrats or operatives from other nations.
Because of Manticore's vague background, she has been designated a special type of Oripathy patient at Rhodes Island. Any applications requesting use of Manticore in special operations or combat will first need to be submitted to Dr. Kal'tsit for approval.

[Manticore's Ability's Test Record]
Test subject: Manticore.
Test objective: To probe the usefulness of the subject's abilities and Originium Arts.
Test content: To find Manticore while she is in hiding and to defend against her while she is in action.
Test participants: An Operator who has worked with Manticore on several missions.
Randomly select two Operators from all of the Operators available.
Among them must be at least one technician Operator or non-technician Operator with high Originium adaptability.
Test results: The test took place on a terrain simulating a complex environment. During the test period, none of the three Operators were able to locate the whereabouts of Manticore. When Manticore went on the offensive, some of the Operators managed to defend against her attacks using their quick reaction times and combat experience, while Manticore managed to successfully attack the others.
Feedback results: According to the explanations provided by the Operators, Manticore could not be captured using visual means. Some of the Operators with better Originium adaptability reported feeling a strange atmosphere that instantly made them as though they were in danger.
