Overview

  • A stage featuring two medium-health ‘bosses’, this challenge quest revolves around preventing the enemy Ryougi Shiki (Saber) from firing off an NP, while surviving long enough to deplete her HP bar.

  • At the start of the fight, Shiki gains a permanent, unremovable buff which applies a buff and debuff on herself every turn. The buff and debuff respectively are a 1-hit Evasion towards Buster cards, and a Delayed Debuff which reduces her NP gain by 1 when she is hit with a Buster card. This mechanic will become important in the late fight, which will be explained below.

  • Early on, the Master’s focus should be on eliminating the miniboss Kirie as soon as possible due to her Invitation to Float skill, which has the potential to fully charge her allies’ NP bars after one turn unless she is attacked. Furthermore, she applies a 3-turn attack down debuff whenever attacking, which progressively makes the fight more difficult. Ideally, she should be eliminated before Shiki reaches Break.

  • On first Break, Shiki gains a passive NP charge per turn, and her attacks apply a 3-turn attack debuff (similar to Kirie’s). This is the stage’s make-or-break point, as if Kirie is still alive by this point, the pressure from the attack debuffs as well as the various NP charge-related mechanics may be too much for the party to handle.

  • From this point on, the fight turns into a full-on battle of attrition, as the focus becomes hitting Shiki with a Buster card every turn to prevent her from unleashing her NP. [IMPORTANT: Assuming a Buster card is used every turn, Shiki will never get to use her NP! This is because the passive NP Charge from her delayed buff is applied at the end of her turn.]

  • Shiki’s third Break grants her a significant boost to her defense and healing received, but otherwise changes the fight little.

Team Recommendations

  • Using the mandatory support Fujino is very recommended due to the increased attack and Buster performance. As Fujino has access to sure hit, defense ignore, and even a buff block, she is able to easily bypass the defenses Shiki possess, taking much of the burden away from the rest of the team.

  • In general, with a well-supported party and the support Fujino, a quick enough finish with normal compositions is easily possible (before the lack of Buster cards due to bringing two support Servants becomes a problem), but barring this, the general approach should be to bring along a few Buster-oriented Archers as well, reducing the chance of a Buster-less turn.

  • In either case, offensive Supports (especially Buster ones) such as Merlin, Zhuge Liang and William Shakespeare prove invaluable for the stage, allowing Masters to finish the stage much quicker. Zhuge Liang’s NP in particular is able to fill in for a Buster card when needed (as can other NP drain effects).

  • AoE Buster Archers (Gilgamesh, EMIYA) fare particularly well for the early fight, as their NPs will not only damage Kirie, but also Shiki, which keeps her NP bar under control, possibly even dealing some damage with the help of sure hit CEs. Of particular note are Ishtar and Nikola Tesla, both of which possess invincibility ignore (albeit chance-based in Ishtar’s case).

  • Barring those, single-target Archers can also be used, such as Asagami Fujino or Archer of Shinjuku.

  • Damage dealers who lack sure hit or invincibility ignore can be equipped with CEs granting said effects (Sweet Crystal is recommended, or Decapitating Bunny).

  • Chaldea Combat Uniform is by far the strongest Mystic Code for this stage, as the Stun can be used to safely get through a Buster-less turn (as long as Shiki doesn’t use Unyou, which increases her mental debuff resistance). Alternatively, Order Change can also be used to bring along a 3-Buster Servant from the backline, though this might not necessarily cause their Buster card to appear. The Mage’s Association Uniform is also a powerful choice, allowing for a reshuffling of the deck in a pinch.
