JWA Alliance Championship Overview - May

April Performance and Looking Forward

Before we get into the May Championship Information a word from OrigamiRobot on last month's championship:

As expected, there were no alliances that even came close to Tier 10. I had previously predicted that nobody would make it past Tier 5.  Due to a generous participation reward and player working their butts off, six amazing alliances made it to Tier 6.  A big congratulations to Apex Predators, Tryko Carnage, KillerRaptors, GamePress, Top 500, and Kelliance for this insane achievement!

If your alliance didn't make it to Tier 6, don't feel bad. We were all set up to fail from the beginning. Ludia has finally reduced the requirements for all tiers, but unfortunately, it still seems that Tier 10 is unattainable at 650,000 points.  It's insulting to tell the playerbase "We made this too hard, but you still didn't work hard enough." Apex Predators finished the championship with around 550,000 total points. Ludia is telling them they need to work 100,000 points harder.  That's 2,000 points per player and 400 points per tournament. Sorry Apex Predators, you're only 85% good enough.

Our only hope that a higher takedown bonus in the upcoming tournaments. Well, that or Ludia could do some actual analysis instead of throwing numbers at the wall and seeing what sticks.

May Championships

The May Championship has been announced and it will be Tenontorex themed with all of the tournaments and the Championship Rewards rewarding DNA components of Tenontorex. They have also adjusted the points needed for the higher ranks after most alliances couldn't even make it to rank 5 last time. We appreciate the change in points but as Origami mentioned below, it will still be tough (almost impossible) for the top alliances to reach rank 10.

Here are the details for the May Championship:

DATES

  • Start: May 04, 2020
  • End: June 01, 2020

May Championships

Honestly, we have to admit we are a bit disappointed in this theme. With all of the new hybrids and creatures that have been added to the game (many of them with exclusive DNA), we would have loved to see a newer hybrid being featured. Tenontorrex is still a very strong creature, but something with let's say....Mammoth, would have been even better and given even more incentive to fight for those top spots in the tournaments.

How to accumulate Points

Just like month, points can be earned solely through participation in the weekly tournaments. You can access and join those tournaments through the Tournament Button located on your Battle Screen in-game. To earn alliance points you must play at least one tournament battle. You will earn points 3 different ways in the tournament.

  • Your starting medal count .1 medal = 1 alliance point. That means if you are in Nublar Shores, you will earn 880 alliance points by joining and playing in 1 battle. Remember that starting medals are determined based on your current PvP arena, not your high score for the season.
     starting tournament counts

  • Increasing your High Score. Just like the starting medals, 1 medal gained = 1 alliance point. So if you win a match and improve your high score by 20 medals, you will earn 20 alliance points.

  • Participation Bonus. There is a participation bonus based on the number of takedowns you perform in a tournament. Each tournament will have a different amount of required takedowns and points will not be awarded until you have completed all of them. Last month every participation bonus was 1,000 points for taking down 10 creatures. They did say it could be different so we are hoping for some variety this time around.

In addition, some tournaments will have a multiplier on it and any points you gain will be multiplied by that amount. This month we have a 2x Tournament so all of your points will be multiplied by 2 (including starting medals, increasing high score, and participation bonus). Your points are automatically added to the overall pool as soon as you earn them. You can see your points in the Champion Screen as well as the points earned by everyone else in the alliance. If you leave one alliance and join another, your points will not go with you.

Only the top 50 contributing members' points will actually count towards the overall score of the alliance. There is still a spot for "Previous members" if there are any changes within the month, but only the top contributors will count towards the final score. Members who aren't in the top 50 contributing scores can still earn the rewards at the end of the month.

Upcoming Tournaments

Once again, they have the full schedule out for all of the tournaments this month. We really like having this information all at once so we can start planning for the advantage tournaments and know what creatures to focus on for levelling up and hunting for. Parting Words

We are glad that the points have been adjusted for the top tiers and hope they continue to monitor and make changes as needed as we navigate through another month of championships. We do hope to see more exclusive DNA being featured in the future. Alliances must work together to achieve higher rewards and hopefully, this motivates them to continue to play in tournaments.  Make sure to join our Discord for more information and maybe even send a GG to people after a game!
