Core Team
Mew is an extraordinary pair in that almost none of its utility comes from Trainer Moves; all of its Healing, buffs, debuffs, and Gauge Refresh hail from its Passives and Sync Grid. What this means for us is that as long as it remains healthy, Mew will never run out of anything in Battle Villa, and keeping it healthy isn’t exactly a herculean task considering its great bulk and Insane Passives. First Aid 4 and Mew’s Sync Grid Evasion boosts allow it to heal itself and max its Evasion every single match without running of Mp, and combined with Unfortuitous Swift spam it becomes nigh unkillable. As to using it in-game with this team, there really isn’t much to tell. Sit on Mew’s massive bulk and spam Swift whenever you have the Gauge to build up Evasion and Debuffs. First Aid 4 and its Evasion boosts will do most of the defensive work for you, and in the unlikely event that Mew is ever in danger of being knocked out, a quick Master Healer potion from Swanna will easily solve that.

One of the game’s finest Battle Villa healers, Swanna’s Master Healer Potion and Mp Refresh are what takes Mew’s survivability, both in 3v9s and across stages, from merely great to absolutely insane. Practically, you’ll want to use Swanna as Mew’s backup tank, healing it with Master Healer Potions whenever it gets too close to the edge without First Aid 4 up, and buffing the team with “Take Flight!” in 3v9 situations where preserving Mp isn’t as important. There likely won’t be Gauge to have it spam a move while Mew and Torkoal are blasting Swifts and Embers, so outside of Healing and buffing Swanna is good to just sit there and soak it up if Mew somehow gets knocked out.
An example Sync Grid for a Swanna used on this team can be found here:
This grid shows only the essential skills that can be accessed at the currently-available Sync Level 2. If a level 3 Skyla ever becomes available, you'll want to pick up Gust Mp Refresh and the second Potion Mp Refresh in addition to this Grid.
Torkoal is the team’s damage dealer, and while it may look weak from Stats alone, a glance at its Sync Grid quickly reveals it to be one of the game’s most powerful Battle Villa damage dealers. This is because it DOES NOT RELY on Trainer Moves for damage; the power of Ember combined with Will-O-Wisp, Burn Synergy, and Fortuitous allows it to handle all of its buffing needs independently of its master. Additionally, Ember being a one bar move combined with the spammabilty of Mew’s Swift allows Torkoal to reach its Sync Move extremely quickly over and over throughout a match, a Sync Move that certainly packs a punch against burned targets. In game, Torkoal only needs to do two things: apply Burns to as many targets as it can, and then spam Ember like its bodily integrity depends on it.
An example Sync Grid for a Torkoal used on this team can be found here:
This grid provides a great balance between Power and Gauge, with plenty of Ember boosting and Gauge Refresh nodes to go round on top of the incredible Fortuitous. Depending on your preferences, however, you may want to opt for more Burn Synergy or Ember power in lieu of some Gauge, which is also a perfectly viable option.
Discussion: How to use this Team
This team is designed to sweep through as many stages of the Battle Villa in one day as possible, and combined with other powerful BV teams can easily full clear in 2-3 days (or even 1 if skillfully used). This sweeping ability comes from the fact that this team barely relies on Trainer Moves at all; Torkoal’s Damage and Mew’s survivability come from their passives and Sync Grids, and Swanna’s Mp Refresh Potion only needs to see use every few stages. As to actually piloting the team, it’s a fairly simple affair. As soon as the match begins, Mew should be spamming Swift and Torkoal should be Will-O-Wisping at least the Stage Boss (possibly the side pars as well depending on how big a threat they pose). From that point, continue on with Swift but switch to Ember on Torkoal, and then keep it up until Torkoal can Sync (at which point it should) or Mew is low on health without First Aid 4 (at which point Swanna should Heal it). Following this cycle ad infinitum should allow you to barrel through 15 or more Stages a day, especially if you switch to more specialized teams for 3v9ing Boss Stages.
