JWA Alliance Championship Overview - June

May Performance and Looking Forward

Before we get into the June Championship Information a word from OrigamiRobot on last month's championship:

I hate to say I told you so, but here we are. In spite of the amazing efforts of the top alliances, no one even came within 100,000 alliance points of Rank 10. Ludia’s answer to this is giving us an extra Tournament for the next Championship. This will make it easier to reach some of the lower ranks, but don’t get too excited about reaching Rank 10. 650k points in this championship is the equivalent of 541,667 points in the past two championships.  Still a feat that has only been accomplished by one alliance in one championship. Now, maybe being more within reach will inspire the other alliances to work harder, but I still only see 1 or 2 alliances making Rank 10, if any.

Speaking of inspiration to work harder, I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the medal gain/loss distribution. There seem to be a lot of cases where the winner of a match will receive, as an example, 20 medals while the loser will lose 40 medals. While the gain/loss rates aren’t required to be equal (there isn’t a finite number of medals that can run out), this does have big psychological impacts. Having a single loss take away two wins worth of work is incredibly demoralizing. There is supposed to be some algorithm in place so that you gain or lose medals based on the strength of your opponent relative to your own, but there’s no situation that should result in such a huge discrepancy.

Is it bugged? Is it working as intended?  I don’t know and you don’t either because we don’t really know Ludia’s plan here. It’s also hard to give them feedback because getting the actual numbers involved is a huge hassle on our end. What we need is for the match end screen to show both players starting medals, both players gain/loss, and both player's final medals.  This way it’s easy for us to take a quick screenshot and send it in when we think there’s a problem.

We did have some alliances make Tier 9 this last month and we want to take a moment to give them a shout out. A big congratulations to Apex Predators, TrykoCarnage, KillerRaptors, GamePress, and Top500 for this awesome achievement!

June Championship

The June Championship has been announced and it will be Ardentismaxima themed with all of the tournaments and the Championship Rewards rewarding DNA components of Ardentismaxima. We are excited about the DNA but as you saw above, only 5 teams even made it to tier 9 this time. The points are the same (even though we have 5 tournaments) so we are hoping more people are able to reach those higher level rewards.

Here are the details for the June Championship:

DATES

  • Start: June 01, 2020
  • End: July 6th, 2020

REWARDS

June Championship Rewards

People seem to be especially excited about this Championship. Ardentismaxima a top tier creature right now and a staple on many of the top teams. Players are excited for the opportunity to gain DNA to level up this big immune sauropod and I think the tournaments will be even more competitive this time around! We would still like to see some exclusive DNA, but this is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of what players have been asking for.

How to accumulate Points

Just like month, points can be earned solely through participation in the weekly tournaments. You can access and join those tournaments through the Tournament Button located on your Battle Screen in-game. To earn alliance points you must play at least one tournament battle. You will earn points 3 different ways in the tournament.

  • Your starting medal count .1 medal = 1 alliance point. That means if you are in Nublar Shores, you will earn 880 alliance points by joining and playing in 1 battle. Remember that starting medals are determined based on your current PvP arena, not your high score for the season.
     starting tournament counts

  • Increasing your High Score. Just like the starting medals, 1 medal gained = 1 alliance point. So if you win a match and improve your high score by 20 medals, you will earn 20 alliance points.

  • Participation Bonus. There is a participation bonus based on the number of takedowns you perform in a tournament. Each tournament will have a different amount of required takedowns and points will not be awarded until you have completed all of them. Last month every participation bonus was 1,000 points for taking down 10 creatures. They did say it could be different so we are hoping for some variety this time around.

In addition, some tournaments will have a multiplier on it and any points you gain will be multiplied by that amount. This month we have a 2x Tournament so all of your points will be multiplied by 2 (including starting medals, increasing high score, and participation bonus). Your points are automatically added to the overall pool as soon as you earn them. You can see your points in the Champion Screen as well as the points earned by everyone else in the alliance. If you leave one alliance and join another, your points will not go with you.

Only the top 50 contributing members' points will actually count towards the overall score of the alliance. There is still a spot for "Previous members" if there are any changes within the month, but only the top contributors will count towards the final score. Members who aren't in the top 50 contributing scores can still earn the rewards at the end of the month.

Upcoming Tournaments

Once again, they have the full schedule out for all of the tournaments this month. We really like having this information all at once so we can start planning for the advantage tournaments and know what creatures to focus on for leveling up and hunting for. We will have 3 skilled tournaments and 2 advantage tournaments this month.

Parting Words

We are honestly a little disappointed in the tournaments this month. They are very similar to what we saw last month and don't give much variation. Plus the hybrid-only rare and epic tournament, in particular, is a very limited pool making it difficult to counter some of the top creatures (like Procerathomimus). The rewards are pretty good though so hopefully this motivates alliances and players to push through and to continue to play in tournaments for the higher rewards. Make sure to join our Discord for more information and maybe even send a GG to people after a game!
