The red light above the security door flashed in a frequency of 1-3-1. The heavy, stiff machinery groaned for about 4 seconds, and the scene behind the door presented itself to Persicaria and Sol ------ A data terminal about two stories high, accompanied by the pale blue light radiating from the surrounding gigantic curved screens.

Sol carefully entered through the door, leaving a trail of shoe prints on the concrete tiles that have been covered in dust.

“Simo and Croque...Persicaria moved to face the data terminal, the blue light highlighting the worry on her face.

“Go support them, I will handle things here fine. We must not lose anyone.”

Her last sentence carried a heavy tone, but Sol did not say anything. She only now realized that in stressing that sentence and having Sol support them, she excluded herself from “Anyone”.

“They can handle those guys at the entrance. You know their capabilities.”

Sol leaned on the terminal and gave a “go ahead” gesture to her.

“......”

“Data terminal access granted, connecting to network layer 2.”

“Retrieving Magrasea server record…”

Persicaria tried to suppress the feeling of helplessness that was haunting her.

If she could not find the reason for it, she at least wanted to know which dolls were dragged into this huge, hopeless accident.

A long list of names appeared and scrolled on the blue curved screen. Familiar names appeared one after another, reflected in her eyes.

Antonina --- Her body shivered when she saw this name.

Where are you? What’s going on?......

The few seconds that it took for the name list to finish displaying felt like centuries of waiting alone to Persicaria. She took all the data from every single entry with a name and all remaining data logs into her own memory storage.

Even if there was little chance, she wanted to find Antonina and all the people mentioned in the data logs and name lists.

We must not let them…...wander like exiles in this cold, simulated world.

Top Secret Letter

Top Secret letter to G&K for Project Neural Cloud

First up is a letter stamped with Top Secret and G&K as the recipient. The contents consist of an outline of a testing phase of "Project Neural Cloud" in which G&K will receive Dolls for testing purpose. The letter goes on to list several Dolls, their respective model, name, and a recommendation of which gun each Doll would be most suitable to be imprinted to.

Several entries on the list are blacked out. Fans will have to wait and see if the list is implicating the need for certain aspects of these Dolls to remain secret or if it's merely a tease.

Re: Concerning the development invitations to Project Neural Cloud

(text garbled)

My apologies for replying so late to your email. I've been considering your proposal over the past two weeks, and my answer is "Yes".

I read the planning document you sent about the key period, and like I said earlier, "Project Neural Cloud" will become an amazing field of technology, but it is difficult to avoid encountering technical problems in the process of realizing it. The solutions you proposed are also very innovative, and on that note, I believe my assistant will be able to help you.

You should know her, right? After all, her name is Persicaria, and she's identical to me in body type and looks. Also she was born in the labs of 42Lab (permit me to thank you for this once again), so forgetting her will be very difficult. She's a specialized model designed to focus on AI research, and before development began I insisted on maximum computing power for her Digimind. Therefore I believe her abilities will prove to be very important in the development of "Project Neural Cloud".

In addition, I know the project supervisor of whom you speak. This professor has an excellent reputation in the academic world and I deeply respect the work they've done in the field of AI. I spoke with Persicaria and she would be very happy to work under this professor for a while, and she has expressed a desire to perform live testing after the development period ends. Our research here has recently been stuck in limbo due to certain practical reasons, and if changing environments will let her continue to grow, then I see no reason not to entertain a good idea. However, you must ensure her safety.

Now then, please go through the official flowchart again. Over the next few days, I'll be going to 42Lab with her to sign the appropriate documents.

I wish the project success, for everyone's sake.

CLR Event

"Sorry to disturb you, sir, but I think you'll be interested in this."

"Several weeks ago, the email which IOP sent us about Neural Clouds was tampered with. One of our Commanders discovered the problem; the person who intercepted the mail inserted a hidden message on the left side of the document in what looked like an ordinary punch-hole. When decrypted, it returned: CLR-Event."

"At first, I had no idea what it was and after encrypting the original email I didn't pursue it any further after putting it into Griffin's secret file storage. However, two days ago, I unexpectedly encountered this sound clip again. You might want to hear it."

"I believe that two years ago, 42Lab's "Neural Cloud" project wasn't as successful as we took it to be. They seem to be hiding something, but we don't need to be too worried. IOP's helped us look into the safety of "Neural Cloud" technology, and it won't affect our operations. Now is also a time when we need their technical assistance, so I feel that interfering with it will do us no good."

"I will save this audio clip into the encrypted file database as well. If need be, it might become a bargaining chip for negotiations with them - of course, I sincerely hope that our cooperation with them can be carried out happily and smoothly. If you feel the matter merits further investigation, I am at your disposal."

An audio file was posted along with the message:

Audio transcript as follows:

“My apologies for intercepting your mail. I have no choice. They hide everything. Someone sacrificed life. Doll's memories are erased. And we are not allowed to say anything. There is a conspiracy of NC test. The keyword is CLR Event. Please find the truth and save all of us.”

At the end of the message, a series of beeps play. This is not morse code, but it is a coded message. Taking a look at the spectrogram of the audio reveals a hidden message which reads "- project: sanctifier -".

Project Sanctifier

Inverted Tower of Babel

File No.: PRJ Sanctifier PID ----------------------------

“…… 42lab has always had concerns about AI viruses while developing their cloud servers. Before AI became more developed, the battle between viruses and anti-viruses was between human programmers. However, Viruses written by AI have extraordinary growth and development capabilities. AI can program viruses thousands of times faster than humans can, and the same goes for the speed at which they can deploy the viruses. Once Viruses by AIs become a reality, even the best network security engineers will be helpless.

In order to eliminate this danger, 42lab started the research and development of Project "Sanctifier" in 2055 with the support of its parent institution IIQS, hoping to fight against AI viruses with AI antiviruses, so as to ensure the security of its cloud server.

Fortunately, Project "Sanctifier" was announced as successful in February last year, which not only became a milestone in the industry, but also laid a secure foundation for the "Neural Cloud" project which will also be developed  through cloud R&D this year. "

Project Sancitifer summary, purpose, and objective

PROJECT SUMMARY

The objective of Project “Sanctifier” is to design an AI antivirus routine for the 42Lab cloud service provider under IIQS’ autonomous research networks, based on traditional antivirus software technology and using AI technology as its core. It should demonstrate self-learning and growth abilities and be equipped with basic antivirus functions and the ability to counter AI viruses. This project will be headed by 42Lab of IIQS.

PROJECT PURPOSE

The main objective of Project “Sanctifier” is to satisfy the safety requirements for 42Lab’s servers.

  • In contrast to normal antivirus software, the product of this project will be stored on 42Lab’s cloud servers, providing comprehensive protection for cloud-based AI work.
  • The smart antivirus program “Sanctifier” will be equipped with self-learning and growth abilities, as well as providing a security foundation for “Project Neural Cloud”, which is still in its planning phases.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Project “Sanctifier” has the following key objectives:

  • Using mechanical learning and discrimination to find, evaluate and eliminate malicious code
  • To monitor its progress in real-time and to provide self-monitoring through process forking
  • Using its AI capabilities, it will provide active protection even in the absence of virus code signatures
  • Equipped with anti-AI virus abilities
  • Capable of autonomously repairing lightly-infected legal programs

URANIUM_390
Operation Engineer / 42Lab OM Dept.

FEB 14 2056 16:40

16:40:34
Uranium_390: Director? Are you free now? I found some very unexpected things during maintenance...

16:40:55
Uranium_390: Just now, the team found some strange processes running on the system simulation layer during system maintenance. After some simple reverse-analysis, we found that they were very similar to  stuff we'd written in the past, both in coding style and operational logic. Some of them were so messy that we couldn't decode it, and the impression we got was that "some kind of malicious code or even a virus is masquerading as a normal process."

FEB 14 2056 16:42
[Uranium_390 has sent a vibrating alert]

16:42:01
Director: Check the transmission records and access logs. Then check our network gateway. See if there have been illegal accesses or signs of hacking.

16:42:06
Uranium_390: We've checked them all, but there are no signs of any illegal access.

16:42:16
Director: Is it possible that someone on the inside was trying to obfuscate the code?

16:42:23
Uranium_390: We can't rule that out. We're checking now.

16:43:23
Uranium_390: Whoever did this was sending large amounts of junk-data in a DDOS attack against the security system in order to overwhelm the security system's processing capacity and thus overcome it.

16:44:23
Director: Initiate Plan S.

16:44:29
Uranium_390: The malicious process has been eliminated.

16:44:46
Uranium_390: Wait, it's back and completely unscathed, and it's launching another attack in the same way...

16:45:34
Uranium_390: No... This time it's also performing a port scan, as though it's trying to find a loophole in the security system. Looks a lot like an AI virus, don't you think?

16:45:55
Uranium_390: However, the security system's operational efficiency was clearly increased, because it quickly eliminated all the malicious processes. It seems "Sanctifier's" self-learning and self-evolution abilities are pretty good!

Unsent
Director: Go do your work. I'll handle this.

Magrasea Record

superserver Magrasea

MAGRASEA RECORD

42LAB SUPERSERVER
The 42Lab super cloud server "Magrasea" is the world's first super heavyweight cloud server, built by 42Lab. The security of its cloud services is assured by their self-developed "Sanctifier". Not only does it satisfy the internal data storage and processing needs for 42Lab's internal projects, it can also offer cloud services to external clients on a rental basis. Their partners include Svarog Heavy Industries, Cyber Media, Universal Anything Services, Ultimate Life and other major corporations, as well as various NGOs, research teams, public service apparatus and even individuals. Many of 42Lab's upcoming research projects, like "Project Neural Cloud" and others, are all housed on this platform.

SECTORS
Sectors are different regions on the 42Lab superserver Magrasea. In order to ensure there is sufficient space to perform effective data simulation processing and to ensure data privacy and safety - even if there is the possibility of data exchange - in the strictest sense of the word, data from different companies or industries are stored in standalone Sectors. In addition, 42Lab's vaunted AI technology also supports the installation of standalone AI routines in each sector to help process cloud data. Naturally, "Sanctifier" defends the data and the normal AI routines within each Sector.

42LAB SECTOR
The 42Lab Sector was the first Sector to be built on the Magrasea superserver and it stores research data on 42Lab's AI research projects. Many AI programs are installed within the Sector in order to ensure high operational efficiency, and Sector management is in the hands of a 42Lab-developed next-generation high-performance AI.

When "Project Neural Cloud" was first established, this Sector was once used as a temporary Sector to store project data, but as development progressed and the quantities of data involved grew massive, all "Neural Cloud" data was migrated to a standalone cloud Sector.

Magrasea: Military Sector

military sector cyclopes

MILITARY SECTOR: CYCLOPES

The Military Sector was one of the earlier sectors to be built on the Magrasea server, and is also where the major industry leader "Svarog Heavy Industries" stores its military research data. Due to the sensitive nature of data in this field, Svarog Heavy Industries has deployed large quantities of sifter AI programs, and with the assistance of its close partner 42Lab, all data in the sector is also under the protection of "Sanctifier".

Magrasea: Computing Sector

enigma sector

COMPUTING SECTOR: ENIGMA

The computing sector "Enigma" is a "special area" used to store research data related to quantum computers. Out of all the sectors in Magrasea, the computing sector has the best computing power and count. This sector contains the AI "Neumann" who was developed by 42Lab in collaboration with a certain high-tech company. It uses the scientist John von Neumann as a blueprint and incorporates the simulated cognitive data of many famous scientists. Neumann is currently performing quantum computing R&D in this sector.

Magrasea: Technical Sector

technical sector pierides

TECHNICAL SECTOR: PIERIDES

Unlike many of the other "Magrasea" sectors which are headed by megacorporations, the data in Technical Sector Pierides comes from many and varied sources, mainly non-profit organizations, community benefit groups, certain SMEs and individuals. This sector plays the role of a "digital museum", with the objective of digitizing and storing cultural artifacts of human progress and civilization. In a tumultuous time, the protection of human art and culture is tremendously meaningful, but the most interesting thing is that the processing power consumed by this Sector is easily the lowest in all of "Magrasea".

Magrasea: Entertainment Sector

entertainment sector artwork

ENTERTAINMENT SECTOR: BURBANK

Sector Burbank is the property of the renowned international entertainment and media conglomerate, "Cyber Media". The sector contains massive quantities of varied data, ranging from social media, digital entertainment, real idols and other businesses run by Cyber Media.

It contains many specialized simulation programs, allowing cloud-based digital entertainment to be exported anywhere on Earth at any time. Not only does this grant Cyber Media a decisive tactical advantage on the market, it also ensures that the corporation can provide the most comprehensive and well-tailored social media, entertainment and information and services to the masses.

Magrasea: Energy Sector

energy sector artwork

ENERGY SECTOR: HELIOS

Regardless of how much world wars have accelerated the development of the military-industrial complex, Svarog Heavy Industries has striven to trim away their military services during the process of corporate restructuring. The company has shifted the focus of their R&D to clean energy development and devoting their efforts to building new, easily-habitable cities for humanity. This is also how Energy Sector Helios began.

The Sector contains data concerning the "Collapse Fluid Energy Project" headed by Svarog Heavy Industries. Through the use of large quantities of intelligent cloud programs, Svarog Heavy Industries uses cloud computing to explore the possibilities of turning Collapse Fluid into an energy source. Amidst these simulations, the supercomputer "World's Flame" has risen to key importance.

Magrasea: Neural Cloud Sector

NC corporations

NEURAL CLOUD SECTOR

The Neural Cloud Sector is where data concerning 42Lab's "Project Neural Cloud" is stored, and its secrecy level is very high. This sector is furnished with experimental Doll Neural Cloud upload and download functionality in order to support "Project Neural Cloud". After the beta testing for "Project Neural Cloud" began, the Neural Cloud data for all Doll participants were uploaded to this sector.

Apart from the many research Dolls contributed to "Project Neural Cloud" by the project's leader 42Lab, many other large corporations have provided their official support for the project and sent many different models of Dolls to take part in the beta testing. This includes Svarog Heavy Industries, Cyber Media, Universal Anything Services Co. Ltd, Ultilife Co. Ltd. and so on. In addition, Doll and AI production companies from around the world, as well as some civilian volunteer Dolls have taken part in this project.

Residents

"Residents" is a blanket term for all the AI programs within the Magrasea Cloud Server. They include the various "Intelligence Agents" performing data processing within each sector, the "Sanctifier" antivirus programs which provide security for all of Magrasea, the "Doll Digiminds" from the real world which were digitized and uploaded to the cloud server, and so on.

Sanctifier

"Sanctifiers" are AI antivirus programs made to protect the Magrasea cloud server. They are divided into high, mid and low-ranking classes. They are well-organized and stringently adhere to human orders. High-ranking Sanctifiers are stationed within the observation tower known as the Inverted Tower of Babylon, where they ensure the safety of the server as a whole, only leaving it on rare occasions. Mid-ranking Sanctifiers watch over their respective Sectors under orders from the high-ranking Sanctifiers and prevent anomalies from taking place. Low-ranking Sanctifiers are simple and only know how to obey orders from high and mid-ranking Sanctifiers as well as their own base layer programming, which is to purge all viral programs that could threaten the order of the Sectors in Magrasea as well as IAs displaying Digimind abnormalities.

Release Countdown ARG

About

An ARG series is being run during the countdown to Project Neural Cloud's release. Every day a count down image will be posted and within that image is a starting clue, which will lead to more clues, before finally landing players at a victory image detailing lore or other interesting info about Project Neural Cloud, Girls' Frontline, Girls' Frontline 2, and possibly Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery.

This section will keep track of and archive each of the final ARG images.

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Translation of the main message is as follows:

I think this needs to be clarified as there have been a few hoaxes floating around the internet lately. As we all know, UAS (Universal Anything Services) has always been the largest manufacturer of consumer Dolls in the world over the past 10 years or so. We have ushered in a new era in consumer service Dolls, not by taking chances and getting around, but by solid competence! The machines that once caused people so much pain during the war can also help us recover. This is our philosophy. For this reason, we at UAS are not planning to produce any Dolls with the Third Generation Neural Cloud. Only Second Generation Dolls that follow human commands and do not do anything on their own can provide the best service to our customers.

Please stay tuned for the new UAS product launch this winter. --> universalanythingservices.com

The comments that follow are merely skeptism with one referencing something on the UAS website in the picture. Sadly, this website is not real (at the time of writing this), and there is nothing to take a look at.

Day 5

Entire ARG Image

To this date we're not sure if the entire ARG was ever completely solved in any of the various Girls' Frontline communities, or what any of the numbers mean or point to. If anyone has an answer, be sure to drop us a line!
