  • With her strong and versatile stat spread, Hana forms a great choice to be an Aether Raids tank. Her great offensive spread helps with dispatching foes, while her good defenses help to keep her safe from harm. Her IV choices are fairly open for this set, with Speed, Attack, and Resistance all being strong Asset choices. While she should be merged for this role, HP is the recommended Flaw if she happens to be unmerged.
  • Despite Hana lacking a personal weapon, axe users thankfully have a good selection of weapons that are easy to access. Deck Swabber is an excellent choice, being easily accessible from Pirate Darros and granting a strong Lull Atk/Def effect when she has no adjacent allies. Slaying Axe is also a reliable option for faster Specials. Huge Fan can be powerful too, but the prevalence of Panic can hurt the reliability of this weapon.
    • In any case, Speed makes for the overall best refinement, helping Hana to secure follow-up attacks and activate any of the damage reducing B slot skills.
  • First things first, having Hana with either Noontime or Sol is highly important, allowing her to keep herself healthy during the Enemy Phases. Distant Counter is also required so Hana can retaliate against ranged defenders, otherwise you’ll be wasting time not retaliating in a mode where time is of the essence.
  • Spurn in the B slot will not only help to keep her safe through its damage reduction, but also grant a mini Wrath effect along with it. Null Follow-Up is a solid alternative, helping boost Hana’s reliability through blocking skills which guarantee enemy follow-up or block her own follow-up.
    • Close Call and Repel don’t offer the mini Wrath, but still come with the same amazing damage reduction, making both still worthwhile alternative choices to Spurn.
  • Pulse Smoke makes for a strong C slot choice. Defense teams utilizing pulse skills like Infantry Pulse are commonplace, so this C slot offers Hana an effective way to neutralize the effects of these skills. Joint Drive Res is another strong option, helping to boost her own and her allies survivability against magical foes. If you need a cheaper option, Atk Smoke is also effective at keeping Hana safe.
  • For Sacred Seal, Spd/Res Solo helps Hana to be more safe from enemy follow-ups and magical attacks while also increasing her own follow-up potential. Alternatively, Steady Posture achieves similar results, though with less of a boost. Kestrel Stance can also be considered for more offensive ability.

Special: Galeforce / Moonbow / Ruptured Sky

Passive A: Fury (3 or 4) / Atk/Spd Push 4 / Life and Death (3 or 4) / Flashing Blade 4

Passive B: Wings of Mercy / Desperation / Wrath

Passive C: Time’s Pulse / Odd Tempest / Joint Drive Atk

Sacred Seal: Flashing Blade / Swift Sparrow / Quickened Pulse

  • With her default weapon, the Ninja Masakari, Hana can also make for an excellent Player Phase fighter. With the Brave effect and Speed increase, Hana can achieve four attacks with great ease. Either Attack or Speed will make for ideal Asset choices, while HP is the safest overall choice for a Flaw.
  • The choice in Special one uses will play a big part in what other skills one might want. If the plan is for Hana to be an effective attacker in Aether Raids, then Galeforce is the standout Special of choice. For more general purpose, then a standard offensive Special like Moonbow or Ruptured Sky makes for a great choice.
  • Regardless of the Special used, is it important for Flashing Blade to be present somewhere. This makes activating Hana’s Special much more easy and reliable.
    • If Flashing Blade is taken as the Sacred Seal, this leaves Hana’s A slot open for a number of other possibilities. Fury 4 is an amazing choice, boosting all of her stats and the chip damage helping her to reach HP thresholds for her B slot. Atk/Spd Push 4 is also amazing for similar reasons. Life and Death 4 is another stellar option, providing a huge offensive boost at the cost of defensive stats. The level 3 versions of both Fury and Life and Death are naturally good choices too.
    • If Flashing Blade is taken as the A slot, it has to be Flashing Blade 4, otherwise one should just use the Sacred Seal. This lets you take another Sacred Seal such as Swift Sparrow or Quickened Pulse.
  • Wings of Mercy pairs extremely well with Galeforce if one is using Hana in an offense team revolving around multiple Galeforce users. The general tactic is to chain multiple Galeforce uses together through the use of Wings of Mercy and can be incredibly effective if pulled off correctly. For more general uses, Desperation and Wrath are both cheap and effective choices. Desperation can also be used with Galeforce.
  • Time’s Pulse is the optimal C slot for an offensive Hana, providing her with a point of charge at the start of any turn where her Special is at full cooldown. This aids her greatly in ensuring the activation of her Special. Odd Tempest is another interesting option, granting her an extra point of movement on odd-numbered turns. Joint Drive Atk can also be strong, particularly in Galeforce teams where both herself and her Galeforce allies can enjoy the boost in Attack.

Strengths

High Offensive Stats

Hana comes with 36 Attack and 40 Speed. She will have little issue with both dealing damage and securing follow-up attacks. Her Speed also helps her defensive capabilities since it’s difficult for enemies to naturally perform follow-ups against her.

Good Defensive Capabilities

Unbefitting of her original self, Hana comes with an overall good defensive statline. With 42 HP, 28 Defense, and 30 Resistance, she is capable of resisting both physical and magical attacks. Her balanced defenses makes her a notable choice for Aether Raids tanking, where being able to resist all manners of attacks is important.

180 BST Capable

Coming in at a base BST of 176 and having two choices for Superassets in both +SPD and +DEF, Hana can reach the 180 BST scoring bin. This helps her to score extremely well in modes where the BST plays a factor, such as Arena.

Weaknesses

Lack of True Uniqueness

Hana may be strong in all areas, but she struggles to truly stand out. She has no personal weapon that makes her unique, so she has to compete against the myriad of strong Axe users both with and without a personal weapon. Even when strictly comparing her to other Axe Infantry without a personal weapon such as Echidna, the two will end up performing similar roles regardless.

So while Hana is undoubtedly a strong fighter, her competition is insanely fierce. Though when it does come to Axe fighters without a personal weapon, she is one of the creams of the crop.
