JWA Weekly Event Aug 2 - Aug 8: Campfire

Introduction

Explorers! As we've known since the middle of last week, this week we have a Campfire event ahead. This event is filled with amazing options, some exclusive. Let's go over what our Discord community is thinking, what we'll recommend to dart, and everything else you need to know.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday - Tuesday: 27 Attempts

  • Amphycion (Global Short Range) (Scutophicyon)
  • Phorusrhacos (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Velosrhacos, Phorusaura)
  • Purussaurus Gen 2 (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Purrolyth>Grypolyth)

Campfire week starts with some nice Commons options. None really stands out greatly above the others, though we might rank them Pur2, Amphy, Phorus. Both Purrolyth & Grypolyth are great hybrids, and of course you'll need a ton of Pur2 for either or both. We don't have much experience with Scutophicyon yet, but Amphy has been around the least amount of time and requires being mobile to stumble across them. Velosrhacos can be a nightmare in qualifying tournaments, and people still do use Phorusaura in arena.

When we have a week like this, your ultimate plan might simply be to dart whatever crosses your path. 27 is a lot of attempts over a couple days, and you may be better off not investing extra time seeking out any in particular. That is what the majority of those who voted in our Discord poll plan to do.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Wednesday - Thursday: 18 Attempts

  • Enteledon (Global Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Entelochops, Entelomoth>Entelolania)
  • Marsupial Lion (Battle Exclusive) (Thylacotator)
  • Nasutoceratops (Event Exclusive) (Carbotoceratops>Testacornibus)

First, it's important to note we only have two days to do our Rare attempts this week due to the Legendary on Sunday. Make sure you complete by 10am Eastern on Friday, as you don't want to miss out on any.

We are faced with some really tough choices in this group of Rares. Two are Exclusive, and prior to 2.9 patch notes, we'd have put our stock in Marsupial Lion. However, it's looking like Testacornibus is going to become a top tier creature after the update. Thyla is still quite a force, and ML also is on its own. We'd certainly recommend you target ML and/or Nasuto with all of your attempts. Those who voted in our Discord poll have ML being top choice with Nasuto not far behind. As Monkeybutt put it in our Discord server, "Nasutoceratops feeds into Testacornibus, who is about to become the ruler of healing. Marsupial Lion is another good one as an exclusive, but Thylacotator isn't as good as Testacornibus will be."

That isn't to say Enteledon is a terrible choice, but we really prefer any opportunity we get at Exclusive DNA.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 9 Attempts

  • Allosaurus Gen 2 (Event Exclusive) (Alloraptor)
  • Bumpy (Event Exclusive)
  • Titanoboa (Event Exclusive) (Dilophoboa>Spinoconstrictor)

And just when we thought the Rares brought a tough choice, all 3 Epic options are Event Exclusive. Though they are all Event Exclusive, we recommend prioritizing Titanoboa. Like Cornibus, Spinocon looks like it will be the hot new Unique after update 2.9 goes live. A case can surely be made for Allo2, as Alloraptor could still one day receive a Super. Despite being super cute, we wouldn't suggest spending your attempts on Bumpy over the other two. As of writing, Allo2 is leading our community poll with Boa shortly behind.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Alloraptor (Event Exclusive)
  • Carbotoceratops (Event Exclusive) (Testacornibus)
  • Dilophoboa (Event Exclusive) (Spinoconstrictor)

Campfire week concludes with one Legendary attempt on Sunday. Again, we are faced with a tough choice mostly between Carboto and Dilophoboa. As previously mentioned, both Cornibus & Spinocon are looking to rise in use once 2.9 update happens. Also both require an exclusive component for fusing.

Not that Alloraptor doesn't also...And while we lean toward one those two, our community leans more toward Alloraptor. Most comments in conversation mention the difficulty of darting, which absolutely Alloraptor is the easiest of the three.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Campfire themed and reward us with the same creatures available at the event drops upon successful completion.

We are back to two dinosaur specific strikes this week. On Wednesday, we will have Nasutoceratops and Friday will feature Allosaurus Gen 2! We've also got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Tuesday (Attack), Thursday (HP), and Saturday (Speed).

Scents

There is a basic scent strike on Monday, and the themed scent on Thursday is Medium Therapod. This can draw the following creatures while activated:

  • Majungasaurus (Common)
  • Lythronax (Common)
  • Carnotaurus (!) (Rare)
  • Megalosaurus (Rare)
  • Concavenator (Epic)
  • Rajasaurus (Epic)

Treasure Chase

Looks like we have an expanded chase on Saturday & Sunday. The boxes on the calendar appear different than the typical treasures, so perhaps we will be seeing more than just coins in them. DNA? FIPs? Both? We recommend checking contents with the i button before opening. If there does happen to be a chance at FIPs, you want to be sure to have space in your inventory.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week begins the Ovilophosaurus pursuit with the Rare Oviraptor.

Daily Dino & Tournament Info

We rotate in to a new month, and our daily personal missions reward will be Event Exclusive Antarctopelta DNA.

Week 1 of the Skoonasurus Alliance Championships will be an Epic/Legendary/Unique (All) Advantage tournament for COINS!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Monday, 12 PM EST - Sunday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTubers PokeFodder and Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, PokeFodder, Gaming Ells, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
