Weapon: It's Curtains...+ (+Spd)

Assist: Positional Assist

Special: Galeforce

A Passive: Atk/Spd Boosting A Slot / Heavy Blade (3 or 4)

B Passive: S/D Near Trace / A/D Near Trace / Lull Atk/Spd / Lull Spd/Def / Flow Refresh / Desperation / Hit and Run

C Passive: Def Smoke / Panic Smoke / Rouse Atk/Spd / Rouse Spd/Def

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Atk/Spd Solo / Blade Session

  • Being that Roshea is a lance cavalier with a solid amount of Atk and Spd, he is more than able to run It’s Curtains…+ for Galeforce strategies. For those who aren’t aware of its effects, It’s Curtains…+ grants -2 Special cooldown at the start of turn 1, which can essentially turn Galeforce into a three cooldown Special. This makes triggering Galeforce much more lax as a result, and after the initial Galeforce, Roshea should have no issue triggering it again afterward. So, for this set, we’ll be prioritizing his ability to Galeforce.

  • Given that Galeforce will end up as a three cooldown Special, it’s debatable as to whether or not Roshea will need to run Heavy Blade as he can get his Galeforce off if he initiates on a unit that can counterattack as long as there are no Guard effects present and he doesn’t OHKO. As such, Roshea may want to bolster his overall Atk and Spd so that he can successfully defeat his foes while also being able to double. That being said, if he initiates combat on a unit that cannot counterattack, he can potentially end up missing the Galeforce trigger. So, he can still opt for Heavy Blade, whether that’s as his A Passive or Sacred Seal.

  • For Roshea’s B Passive, there are plenty of options at his disposal that he can make use of. One of his best options is Near Trace, whether that’s A/D Near Trace or S/D Near Trace. Both debuff Def so he can end up dealing more overall damage. Moreover, it triggers after Galeforce, so Roshea can initiate on a second foe and perform a Hit and Run tactic by moving up to four spaces away from the foe. However, one can make Heavy Blade checks easier while the other can make doubling easier. Beyond Trace, there is also Lulls, whether that’s Lull Atk/Spd or Lull Spd/Def, allowing Roshea to double more often as well as either deal more damage or secure more Heavy Blade checks, depending on the variant chosen, as well as Flow Refresh, which acts as a half Null Follow-Up and allows Roshea to double through Impact effects. That being said, all of these options are rather premium. So, for budget purposes, Roshea can either run Desperation or Hit and Run.

  • Depending on the setting you use him in, he can either opt for a Smoke skill, whether that’s Def Smoke or Panic Smoke, or a Rouse skill, such as Rouse Atk/Spd and Rouse Spd/Def. Def Smoke is universal in its applications as the debuff it inflicts on the foes can allow Roshea to output more damage. Meanwhile, Panic Smoke is more applicable in modes such as Aether Raids, where he’d be run as an AR-D frontliner. As for the Rouse skills, these can be used in general PvE modes. Rouse Atk/Spd is good for securing doubles and Heavy Blade checks while Rouse Spd/Def can allow Roshea to take more physical hits. Either option is fine as they each have their own applications.

  • Depending on what the rest of the kit consists of, Roshea can either opt for Heavy Blade or skills that increase his overall offensive prowess. Heavy Blade can be nice as it can allow him to accelerate his cooldown and help set up for the following turn. Likewise, it can allow him to initiate on units that cannot counterattack, thus allowing him to trigger Galeforce consistently. However, if Heavy Blade is already being run as his A Passive or you feel that he doesn’t need it, then he can run Sacred Seals that increase his damage output, whether that’s Atk/Spd Solo or Blade Session.

B Passive: Lull Spd/Def / Lull Atk/Def / Windsweep

C Passive: Def Smoke / Rouse Atk/Def / Atk/Spd Menace

Sacred Seal: Atk/Spd Solo / Atk/Def Solo / Heavy Blade

  • Thanks to Roshea’s relatively high Atk stat, he can afford to run Ninja Yari+ and Brave Lance+. The additional MT and Spd he can gain from Ninja Yari+ can allow him to quad, and since his Res stat isn’t that high as is, it won’t hurt his matchups all too much. However, the penalty to his Def could be troublesome if he gets doubled, but since it is relatively high as well, it may not make too much of a difference. Of course, since Ninja Yari+ is locked to a seasonal unit, he can run Brave Lance+ instead for budget purposes.

  • Low cooldown Specials such as Moonbow and Ruptured Sky are good options for him since they’ll allow him to trigger them more often as opposed to higher cooldown Specials. The only issue is that he may not be able to trigger them consistently with Brave Lance+ since he won’t have the ability to quad as much. However, it shouldn’t be an issue with Ninja Yari+ and some Spd investment.

  • Depending on which weapon is being used, Roshea can either run Surge Sparrow, for sustainability purposes, as well as other A Passives that increase his overall Atk and Spd or, if running Brave Lance+, Death Blow as well as other A Passives that increase his Atk stat without taking a toll on his Def. There are plenty of options at his disposal, but make sure to pick accordingly.

  • For offensive purposes, there aren’t that many options for Roshea. He can either choose from Lull Spd/Def if running Ninja Yari+, or Lull Atk/Def if running Brave Lance+. Each stat debuffs accordingly based on the brave weapon of choice. Roshea could also run Windsweep with Ninja Yari+ and theoretically prevent Melee foes from counterattacking if he’s fast enough.

  • Def Smoke is going to be a solid option regardless of which weapon he’s running as the Def debuff will help out with his overall damage output. That being said, if you want him to specialize in either weapon, he can either run Rouse Atk/Def or Atk/Spd Menace. Rouse Atk/Def will be good with Brave Lance+ as the additional Atk can allow him to secure kills and if he does miss a kill, then he can take hits from physical-hitting foes thanks to the additional Def he gains. Meanwhile, Atk/Spd Menace can help secure quads and also help with damage output.

  • Roshea can opt for a Solo skill for his Sacred Seal since those tend to grant the most amount of stats. Atk/Spd Solo is nice with Ninja Yari+ as it can help him quad more often. Meanwhile, Atk/Def Solo can work well with Brave Lance+ as it makes him less susceptible to physical damage. Roshea could also run Heavy Blade with the previously mentioned Windsweep, Atk/Spd Menace, and Ninja Yari+ as it’ll allow him to trigger two cooldown Specials. However, it’s consistency will depend on the amount of Atk investment he receives.

C Passive: Joint Drive Atk / Atk Smoke / Def Smoke

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Quick Riposte / Mystic Boost / Close Def

  • Since Roshea has a solid Def stat, he has the ability to go into an enemy phase role. Moreover, because of his decent Spd stat, he can also avoid taking a lot of damage by having more Spd than his opponents. The only concern with this set will be the threat of Dragons since his Res stat isn’t the highest. However, if you want to use him solely to take on physical threats, he can do quite well in that department.

  • Since we want to take advantage of his relatively high Def stat, he’ll want to run Gilt Fork+ or Steadfast Lance+ (both weapons have the same effects) with a Spd refine. The benefit to running these weapons is that he can avoid any debuff to his Atk and Def while also gaining additional Atk and Def. Moreover, the additional Spd he can get by refining either weapon can allow him to naturally double more often and avoid more doubles from foes.

  • Something worth mentioning is that he cannot run Atk/Def Unity with either of these weapons since the effects don’t work together, but there are plenty of other A Passive options for him. For instance, Roshea can run Close Def to stack his Def and Res stat. The additional Res can come in handy if he ends up going against Dragons. His Res stat still isn’t the highest by any means but it always helps. Likewise, he can run a Stance skill, whether that’s Kestrel Stance or Sturdy Stance. The benefit to running either of these is that it inflicts Guard on the foe, so it can potentially minimize more damage taken. As for which is better, that’ll come down to preference on what you value more: his Def or his Spd.

  • Unfortunately, there aren’t that many options for enemy phase cavalry when it comes to their B Passive. However, since Roshea has a good Spd stat, he can afford to run other skills and still double in the process. Two such skills include Lull Atk/Def and Lull Atk/Spd. The Def debuff is nice for securing more kills while the Spd debuff is good for securing more doubles. Meanwhile, he could always run Mystic Boost for sustainability purposes or Quick Riposte to bypass Impact skills.

  • Since the weapon of choice for this set requires him to be near allies, he can take advantage of that situation by running a Joint Drive. More specifically, running Joint Drive Atk, which is just the overall best option for him. However, since it is also premium, he can instead run Atk Smoke or Def Smoke for budget purposes. Atk Smoke can allow him to tank more while Def Smoke can allow him to secure more kills. Again, it’ll boil down to preference, but either option is solid.

  • Roshea has a few solid options when it comes to Sacred Seals. He can run Heavy Blade and trigger Bonfire or Luna every combat, assuming he doubles and makes the check. Meanwhile, Roshea can run Quick Riposte to bypass Impact skills and double through them or run Mystic Boost for sustainability purposes. Otherwise, he can stack Close Def for Melee tanking.

Strengths

Solid Offenses

Starting out with a base Atk stat of 38 and a base Spd stat of 35, Roshea has plenty of offensive prowess at his disposal. With enough investment, he should have no trouble doubling and taking out many of his foes.

Flexibility

Thanks to how well Roshea’s statline is allocated, on top of the fact that he is a lance wielder, he is able to run an assortment of viable weapons and passives for either the player phase or the enemy phase fairly well.

Weaknesses

Low Resistance

Despite having relatively well-allocated stats, Roshea’s Res stat is definitely left to be desired as it sits at a low base of 21. This makes Roshea susceptible to snipes from mages and prone to retaliations from Dragons. The former can be mitigated with far save support, but Dragons are still going to deal a hefty amount of damage.
