  • Astrid’s ability to impart both +1 movement and Bonus Doubler upon targeting an ally with a Rally Assist (excluding any ranged cavalry units) bears incredible general usefulness for offensive strategies; this build focuses on leveraging this quality while retaining some of Astrid’s offensive prowess with consideration to her viability in different game modes.
  • For Aether Raids Offense:
    • Astrid’s role in Aether Raids Offense is akin to a dedicated buffer, though with the flexibility of offering reasonable damage output to snipe any lingering foes after a full-on assault. Using an offensive stat-boosting A skill like Swift Sparrow is recommended for such instances — especially since none of her other stats are worth writing home about.
    • While Bonus Doubler is certainly useful, the +1 movement she can impart may be the real draw given its wide applications. For instance, this could be used to aid Galeforce strategies or combined with allies equipped with Canto and the Safety Fence to potentially get a free kill on the first turn.
    • Far Trace skills are Astrid’s ideal B skill choice for maximum safety in actually buffing a given ally, allowing her to safely retreat out of enemy range after using her Rally Assist on a given ally. Alternatively, she can equip a Ruse skill if a more supportive lean is preferred, though this leaves greater liability to be killed should the enemy team get close enough.
    • For her C skill, Astrid has two main options:
      • She can utilize Joint Drives to give nearby allies further in-combat boosts while also enhancing her own performance; this is useful should one opt for a more aggressive approach with the Resolute Damsel.
      • Otherwise, her C slot is best filled by another skill that provides visible stat boosts to fully maximize the effects of her Bonus Doubler buff since she’ll only affect two stats at most with her Rally. Such options include Tactics, Hone or Fortify Cavalry, and Gap skills.
  • For Aether Raids Defense:
    • Astrid fits extremely well as the beginning component of a Rally Trap given the deadly bonuses she provides on top of the inherent stat boosts provided by Rallies, expanding her team’s range to threaten further space on a map.
      • The primary consideration here is that Astrid’s team must include some means of neutralizing the Isolation debuff — being afflicted by it shuts down her utility entirely and negates the purpose of including her at all.
      • This can be remedied through having someone equipped with Odd Recovery on the team as well, or preferably Sara whose Kia Staff functions every turn.
    • Using an Attack/Speed boosting A skill is once again recommended to supplement her damage output, with AR-D Atk/Spd becoming viable alongside her other options. However, you should be careful of amping up her offenses too much – with her extended range, she may simply attack an enemy in-range rather than using her Assist.
    • Far Trace skills are optimal here for greater unpredictability in her movement, while helping her retreat after Rallying a teammate for a reduced chance of being preemptively killed. For a greater offensive ceiling, though, Lull skills can be used.
    • Joint Drives are once again standout C skill candidates, and the fact that Aether Raids Defense teams tend to be closely packed together does make them much more effective here. Offense-oriented Astrids can use Smoke skills instead to debilitate foes upon initiation, with Fatal Smoke being particularly lethal against tank strategies.
  • For general gameplay:
    • Switch out her base Spd/Def Bond for an A skill that pads her Attack and Speed instead (she’ll want as much help offensively as she can get) and then use your discretion to fill out the rest of her kit depending on whether you prefer a more offensive or supportive lean.
    • To emphasize support, she can utilize skills that grant greater stat bonuses like Tactics, Drives, and Gaps or detract from that of foes like Feints and her base Atk/Def Ruse (which activate alongside her Rally) or Chills — and to emphasize damage, selfish combat oriented assets like A/D Far Trace should be prioritized.
    • Either way, just be careful about how you prioritize using her Rally over attacking and vice versa to avoid leaving Astrid in enemy range.

Strengths

Damiell Bow

Astrid features a directly upgraded version of Annette’s Crusher — at least where her support capacity is concerned — in her exclusive Damiell Bow.

The ability to apply both Bonus Doubler and +1 movement buff to any ally she Rallies is quite powerful for offensive strategies; provided she retains a Rally+ Assist like her base Rally Atk/Def+, this means her chosen teammate automatically benefits from a massive +12 boost in two stats and augmented mobility to quickly narrow in on the opposing team. Her Damiell Bow also comes with an ample +6 Atk/Spd boost for herself as long as she’s above 25% HP, providing useful for any instances where attacking an enemy needs to be prioritized.

Strong Offensive Statline

The Resolute Damsel’s Attack/Speed combination of 39/41 is very solid. Combined with her Damiell Bow’s built-in boosts, this baseline gives her some much-needed flexibility as a unity through wiggle room to function as a reasonable source of damage output when needed.

Cavalry Benefits

Her cavalry status is beneficial to her viability from both an offensive and supportive perspective; having such extended movement ensures Astrid can support allies from great distances, and an effective five-tile range helps her easily threaten enemy space to apply offensive pressure. This also comes with access to Far Trace skills — a coveted advantage that pairs well with her Rally mechanic to stay out of harm’s way while keeping up with her team.

Weaknesses

Functionality Tied Entirely to Rally

Since Astrid’s key advantage is connected to her Rally, this makes her particularly susceptible to the influence of the Isolation debuff as this prevents her from directly interacting with her allies. This is more of a prevalent issue when using her in Aether Raids Defense given its commonality in challenging teams — but even outside of this mode, this mechanic does come at a rather significant cost to Astrid’s own offensive performance without being overwhelmingly powerful enough to wholly offset the difference.

Low Resistance

Astrid’s less-than-impressive base Resistance of 23 combined with her meager 38 HP pool makes magical damage rather difficult for her to take on; avoiding such threats is crucial to maintain her longevity, as they will otherwise have no issue in tearing through her health.
