JWA Weekly Events Jan 19 - Jan 25: Camp Cretaceous

Introduction

Explorers! The early information we were provided last week becomes official as we have a week all about Camp Cretaceous. We also have patch notes coming Friday, so be sure to check back in case any of the new creatures that are revealed change our thoughts. Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 27 Attempts

  • Dilophosaurus Gen 2 (Global Anytime) (Dilophoboa>Spinoconstrictor, Tyrannolophosaur>Tenontorex)
  • Monolophosaurus Gen 2 (Local 4 Anytime) (Monolometrodon>Monolorhino, Scorpius Rex Gen 2>Scorpius Rex Gen 3)
  • Stegosaurus (Saturday) (Stegoceratops>Monostegotops, Stegodeus)

Mono2 will be your prime target here if you are still working on all of the hybrids it contributes to. We like Stego as your second choice mainly due to the fact it is only available one day a week. Dilo2 can be found everywhere, all the time, so we really don’t have any reason to suggest you use your attempts on.

Of course with commons, there's also the notion save some time and just dart whatever crosses your path. That is what the majority of those who answered our Discord poll intend to do. Mono2 was the most selected creature in the poll.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Bumpy (Event Exclusive) (Ankylomoloch>Ankylos Lux)
  • Kentrosaurus (Park Anytime) (Ankytrosaurus>Trykosaurus)
  • Scorpius Rex Gen 2 (Event Exclusive ) (Scorpius Rex Gen 3)
  • Smilodon (Global Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Smilocephalosaurus>Smilonemys)

Another week, another round of Bumpy! We like this as your top choice, though SR2 is a very close second. It is always nice to save coins and DNA by darting a hybrid, especially when one of the components can only be found one day a week. If you have trouble accessing parks, you might prefer Kentro, though Tryk isn’t the mighty beast it once was. As much as I personally love cats, I can’t find any reason to suggest Smilo over any of the other choices. Bumpy is the top choice by those who voted in our Discord poll.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Ankylomoloch (Event Exclusive, Ankylos Lux)
  • Parasaurolophus Lux (Global Short Range) (Parasauthops)
  • Scorpius Rex (Event Exclusive)

This has the makings of a tough choice, but we really like PLux over the other options. Pthops is a top notch arena creature and is starting to pop up in raid strategies mostly due to its two group heals. This one is very hard to find in the wild, and there is a limit of two per day on it. Of course as mentioned with the Epics, it can be nice to dart hybrids and save some coins and DNA by reducing the fusions you’ll need. If that’s how you’re feeling, we like Ankyl over SR due to one of its ingredients being event exclusive (Bumpy). SR does have the limited availability of Carno in its blood, but you can also find Purut in the wild at Dawn/Dusk/Night.

The order of popularity through our Discord community poll has PLux coming in far ahead of AnkylM and even further ahead of SR.

UPDATE: After reviewing the patch notes, we feel your attempts will be better suited at AnkylM, as after the update this will feed the newest fusible Apex!

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 18 Attempts

  • Carnotaurus (Friday ) (Purutaurus>Carnotarkus, Scorpius Rex Gen 2>Scorpius Rex Gen 3, Indotaurus)
  • Spinosaurus (Global Anytime) (Spinotahraptor>Spinotasuchus>Albertospinos, Spinoconstrictor)
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex Gen 2 (Global Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Indominus Rex Gen 2>Indoraptor Gen 2/Indotaurus, Tyrannolophosaur>Tenontorex)

Before we break these down, we will suggest you make all of your attempts on Monday. The update is planned for Tuesday, and we've all seen how lengthy these can go.

Carno is your best choice here, as it is locked to one day of the week. The other options are global and quite plentiful. You also can make better hybrids, and a ton of them, with the Carno DNA. Even if you have maxed all the hybrids it feeds, maybe you want to just dart it to donate to your alliance, as Carno seems a very popular request.

It's no surprise the majority of players who answered our Discord poll will be going for Carno, though TRex2 came in at a not very distant second.

UPDATE - after reviewing the patch notes, we can raise Spino a bit. It is still available everywhere, all the time, but it will now go on to create a second Unique. The Albertospinos looks extremely formidable, and it's going to take a ton of Spino DNA. However, we will be getting it in a raid toward the end of February which will ease some of that fusing pain.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Camp Cretaceous themed and will reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found under event drops (with very rare possibility of Legendary in some cases).

We have two dinosaur specific strikes this week, a Carnotaurus strike on Thursday and a Spinosaurus Gen 2 tower on Friday! We've also got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Wednesday (Attack), Sunday (HP), and Tuesday (Speed) as well as an emote strike on Saturday.

Scents

We have an Ankylosauridae scent on Thursday which can draw the creatures listed below and a regular scent strike on Monday.

  • Ankylosaurus Gen 2 (Common)
  • Euoplocephalus (Common)
  • Scolosaurus (Common)
  • Nodosaurus (Rare)
  • Ankylosaurus (Epic)

Treasure Chase

We have the usual Sunday treasure chase where we can open them hourly to earn up to 25,000 coins. These do reset at 7pm Eastern and offer a second opportunity toward 25,000 coins before drops reset at 10am Eastern Monday.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week begins the Scorpius Rex Gen 2 pursuit with the Common Monolophosaurus Gen 2.

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12 PM EST - Tuesday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
