JWA Weekly Events Aug 10 to Aug 16: Campfire

Introduction

Explorers! Summer's winding down in half the world, and that means it must be time for a Campfire event! Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

 Wednesday - Thursday: 36 attempts

  • Amphycion (Global Short Range) (Scutophicyon, Rinchicyon)
  • Purussaurus Gen 2 (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Purrolyth>Grypolyth)
  • Sinosauropteryx (Local 3 Anytime) (Sinokotaraptor)
  • Tarbosaurus (Global Anytime) (Thoradolosaur, Tarbognathus>Compsoraptor)

Overall

As with most weeks, the Commons are somewhat underwhelming with a ton of attempts over just a couple days. We do like the availability of Amphy without needing to be within short range, and Pur2 will help you with your Purrolyth which will be great to have for this weekend's tournament. This is the third week in a row (and 4th out of 6 weeks) that we'll have Tarbo as an option, plus it can appear anywhere, all the time. However, you're going to need a boatload if you want to max all 3 of its mighty hybrids. We like Sinosaur the least, mainly because it sucks to dart and its hybrid is possibly the worst of the bunch.

When we have a week like this, your ultimate plan might simply be to dart whatever crosses your path. 36 is a lot of attempts over a couple days, and you may be better off not investing extra time seeking out any in particular.

Voting Poll

As of Wednesday morning, the majority of those who participated in our Poll plan to dart whatever crosses their path.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Allosaurus Gen 2 (Event Exclusive) (Alloraptor>Allodrigues)
  • Anurognathus (Event Exclusive) (Ardontognathus)
  • Haast Eagle (Battle Exclusive) (Coelhaast, Poukaidei>Poukandactylus)
  • Titanoboa (Event Exclusive) (Dilophoboa>Spinoconstrictor)

Overall

Friday & Saturday presents us with very tough choices around 4 Exclusive options. We lean toward the Event Exclusive choices over the Battle Exclusive, but you won't be wrong no matter what choice(s) you make. If we were to give them any kind of order of preference, it would go Anurog, Allo, Titan, Haast, but the drop off between each is pretty close to nothing. We do have a hefty quantity of attempts, so you might split your attempts over multiple options. Mainly, you'll want to invest your time in whatever feeds the hybrid(s) or tournament option(s) you are currently working on.

Featured Creatures: Legendaries

Sunday: 3 Attempts

  • Alloraptor (Event Exclusive) (Allodrigues)
  • Arctalces (Event Exclusive) (Arctovasilas)
  • Dreadactylus (Event Exclusive)
  • Lystrosuchus (Event Exclusive)
  • Smilocephalosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Smilonemys)

Overall

Ludia is feeling generous this week, and they are allowing us THREE attempts at some awesome Legendary options. As a pure Legendary, Dreadactylus is probably the best of this bunch followed by Lystrosuchus. Alloraptor had a day in the sun but was hit with a nerf hammer several updates ago. When it comes to hybrids, Alloraptor and Arctalces are currently responsible for much better ones. However, IF (and we stress IF) the Community Voted Creature planned to be introduced in 2.18 is indeed Indonemys, then Smiloceph could enter that conversation. Unfortunately, we don't expect to have any confirmation on that quite yet. When considering how each is made, Alloraptor & Arctalces are the only two who require an Event Exclusive component. We truly can find merit in every one of these choices, so above anything, makes sure you don't leave any attempts behind!

Monday - Tuesday: 24 attempts

  • Arctodus (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Arctalces>Arctovasilas)
  • Marsupial Lion (Battle Exclusive) (Thylacotator, Thylaconyx)
  • Nasutoceratops (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Carbotoceratops>Testacornibus>Arctovasilas, Megalotops)
  • Rodrigues Solitaire (Event Exclusive) (Allodrigues)

Overall

Upon reveal of this week's calendar, one person exclaimed, "Finally, Marsupial Lion attempts without Albert also!" (or something to that effect). Looking back at events over the past 18 months, there has actually only been one where both were featured. However, it was just a few weeks ago in the Fierce event, so we understand why it sure feels like they're always featured together. While we echo that sentiment, we still suggest Rodrigues to be your top choice. It is the most exclusive of the bunch and has also been around the least amount of time. That isn't to say we don't like ML as a choice, as Thylaconyx is a monster of a Legendary and should prove dominant in the qualifying tournaments this month. We don't advise you choose the huntable options over the exclusive choices, but that isn't saying they are bad. We just like your other choices a lot better. Like the other rarities, we have a lot of attempts in a short amount of time, and there's no shame in spreading them over even all of the options.

Rare Poll Results

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Campfire themed and can reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found at event drops (very very rarely, you could get super lucky and be awarded Legendary).

We will have one dinosaur specific strike this week, a Woolly Rhino strike on Friday. We've also got the Boost Strikes on Wednesday (Attack), Saturday (HP), and Monday (Speed).

Scents

It seems they've done away with the generic scent strikes, as both this week will be Ankylosauridae scent (Thursday & Monday). This scent can draw the following when activated (one rare guaranteed on first pull):

  • Ankylosaurus Gen 2 (Common)
  • Euoplocephalus (Common)
  • Scolosaurus (Common)
  • Nodosaurus (Rare)
  • Ankylosaurus (Epic)

Treasure Chase

The Treasure box looks like a Picnic Basket keeping with the Campfire theme, and we expect to have our standard treasure chase on Sunday where you can collect up to 25,000 coins through each period. Sunday will run 11am Eastern to 8pm Eastern, then it will reset until 11am Eastern Monday - this allows 2 total chances at the coins! Be sure to press the "i" button before your first collection in case they add any other goodies.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week begins the Ovilophomoloch pursuit with the short range spawn, Oviraptor!

Daily Dino & Tournament Info

August continues with Lystrosaurus as our Seasonal Arena Reward and Ouranosaurus as our Daily Dino.

Week 2 of the Allorodrigues Alliance Championships will be a Common/Rare (All, No restrictions) Advantage tournament for Delta & Allosaurus Gen 2 DNA!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 12pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
