- With the addition of Atk/Res Tempo, Young Soren becomes much more potent on Player Phase as it becomes significantly more difficult for the foe to prevent his Special activations thanks to Tempo’s Guard negation.
- Soren’s Adroit War Tome is what makes him a considerable threat on either phase, giving him a flat +6 boost to his Attack and Resistance in addition to effects that occur based on how much higher Soren’s Resistance is than his foe’s. 1 higher and he gains an automatic follow-up attack, 5 higher and he negates the counterattacks of physical foes, and 10 higher lets him negate half of the foe’s non special damage reduction.
- Soren will want to stack as much Attack and Resistance as possible to maximize the effectiveness of his exclusive weapon. However he can also opt for some Speed in order to win Speed checks against foes that possess Follow-up negation, making Speed boosting seals a good choice on him.
- The aforementioned Atk/Res Tempo is by and far Young Soren’s best B slot skill at the time of writing thanks to negating Guard and similar cooldown reduction effects, however he can make use of other B slot skills as well. Lull Spd/Res gives him buff negation which can be helpful in modes such as Arena or against foes who rely on buff stacking such as Legendary Marth. Mystic Boost gives Soren some after combat healing in addition to negating Adaptive damage, while Watersweep lets Soren negate counterattacks from Magic based foes, although he’ll need more Speed investment to make use of it since it reverts his combat back to a Speed check.

- Soren can function reasonably well on Enemy Phase, albeit he’ll make less extensive use of his weapon’s effects as most of them are related to Player Phase.
- Atk/Res Unity is Soren’s best A slot option as it gives him a sizeable boost to Attack and Resistance while giving him a safety net against stat debuffs. Still Water 4 is a noteworthy alternative as it raises his visible Resistance, thereby increasing the effectiveness of Soren’s Sabotage skills.
- Atk/Res Tempo is Soren's preferred B slot as it allows Soren to negate the foe’s incombat cooldown acceleration skills such as Heavy Blade while debuffing the foe’s Attack and Resistance by 3. For a more support based set, he can use a Sabotage skill in his B slot alongside Still Water. Lull Atk/Res is also a useable option if Buff Stacking foes are a concern.
- Mystic Boost is Soren’s best sacred seal as it gives him some much needed post combat healing and negates Adaptive damage, enabling him to take Dragons on with ease. Aside from Mystic Boost, stat boosting sacred seals such as Mirror Stance and Distant Def are Soren’s best sacred seal options.
Strengths
Adroit War Tome
In addition to a flat +6 boost to his Attack and Resistance, Young Soren’s Adroit War Tome gives him several powerful effects based on how much higher his Resistance is than his foe’s:
- One point higher nets Soren an Automatic follow-up Attack.
- Five points higher lets Soren negate the counterattacks of physical foes when he initiates.
- Ten points higher lets Soren negate 50% of the foe’s non Special damage reduction.
Altogether these effects make for a unit that’s a devastating force on either phase as long as he can get his weapon’s effects off, which isn’t a difficult task considering his massive Resistance stat.
Incredible Resistance and Attack
Young Soren’s Resistance and Attack stats are exceptional at base 43 and 42 respectively, and he’ll have no trouble dishing out damage and activating his exclusive weapon as a result.
Weaknesses
Terrible Defense
On Player Phase Soren’s low defense is less problematic, but if a Physical foe manages to initiate on him, he’ll almost certainly be KO’d in a single round of combat.
