Pokemon GO PvP Season 1 Championship Invitations Out, Format Announced

  • No type restrictions, but can only have 2 out of a small group of powerful Pokemon
  • Three championship tournaments in three countries: North America, Germany, and Chile

On June 3, 2019, the team behind TheSilphArena, which operates and keeps track of Pokemon GO PvP tournaments across the world, announced the invitations for their Championship Tournament have been sent out.

The dates of the tournament are as follows:

  • North American Championship - June 15th in Chicago, USA
  • European Championship - July 6th in Dortmund, Germany
  • South American Championship - August 17th in Santiago, Chile

Unlike other tournaments that have a type or species restriction, there are only restrictions on specific species of Pokemon. All types, generations, and legendaries can be represented.

However, players can only bring 2 Pokemon from this group:

  • Altaria, Azumarill, Bastiodon, Lucario, Medicham, Meganium, Probopass, Skarmory, Tropius, Venusaur

All of these PvP meta-relevant Pokemon can only take up 2 of the attendee's 6 team slots.
