Ready for a new trip? August is ending, and with September comes a new season. Moving on from the Season of Go, we now have the Season of Light to look forward to. With multiple new Legendary Pokemon on the horizon, the night sky shines bright on what new beauty our latest season may reveal!

The Season of LIght

  • Remote Raiders will deal additional damage in Raids
  • Pokestops will be guaranteed to drop Gifts
  • Incense will be more potent while moving
  • 2 free Raid Passes per day by spinning gyms
  • Research Breakthroughs will give additional items and Stardust
  • Seasonal Pokemon spawns and egg hatches will change
  • A Special Research line will be available for the Season of Light. This research will focus on the Legendary Pokemon Cosmog, which has the extremely rare feature of being a Legendary Pokemon that can evolve!
    • Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem, which can then evolve into either of the two Cover Legendary Pokemon for Pokemon Sun and moon: Solgaleo and Lunala 
  • This Research line will be released in 3 parts
    • Part 1 will be available on September 1
    • Part 2 will be available on October 5
    • Part 3 will be available on November 23
  • “Nebula Skies” will show up in-game from time to time during the season, though it’s not yet known if this will have an actual effect on gameplay
  • Cosmog-related Avatar Items will be available in the shop

Meet the Nebula Pokémon, Cosmog!

Professor Willow has returned, and he’s discovered a mysterious Pokémon! Throughout the Season of Light, you’ll be able to adventure and bond with the Legendary Pokémon Cosmog. Let’s learn about this child of the stars!

Season of Light Special Research

Available to claim from Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 9:59 a.m. local time New parts of the Special Research will unlock over the course of the Season, so make sure to keep an eye on your Research tab!

Keep an eye on the horizon! Nebula skies will be showing up periodically during the Season.

Themed avatar items

Look out for avatar items inspired by Cosmog coming to the in-game shop soon!

Themed Stickers

You’ll also be able to get season-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.
