Wurmple evolution

Does anyone know how to force the two different Wurmple evolutions? I don't think it can be a male/female thing as all the evolved forms are shown as having both sexes.

It seems to be random. Don't sweat it too much though - there are only two outcomes, the cost is only 12 candy, and Wurmple are fairly common, so it shouldn't take long to get what you need.

I am glad they are common for you...but they are not for everyone.
I am guessing they are like Weedle and Caterpie where they are common for some and rarer for others.
...and those for whom they are common, then wrongly assume they are common everywhere.

It's been either raining or snowing the last few days, which is why I've seen quite a lot. Pokedex tells me I've seen 18, caught 16.

Sweet. No doubt many players see them a lot.

My reply was to the person saying they are 'common', and collecting 'won't take long' as if it is valid for everyone everywhere. I just wanted to point out that for some people in some biomes, these are not common at all, and so if there is an 'evo trick' then it would be more valuable information for those that don't see them as often.

Is it possible to use the name trick for Wurmple evolutions, too, or is that strictly for Eevee evolutions only?

I've had both sex silcoons but no cascoons yet.

It's random...I've heard it could be the mechanics as tyrogue evolutions.

Wurmple's evolution in the main games is practically randomized. I see no reason for it to be any different in Go. Beautifly and Dustox are nowhere close to being important attackers or defenders, so you don't need them with good IVs other than for completionist sake.

Just keep going. Eventually, you'll have all the forms, and then you'll just be evolving Wurmples for experience. Same damn thing now. Don't sweat it. All mon will come to you if you play long enough.

OP here

I have enough candy to evolve 9 or 10. I'll make notes before I do and report back on what I find.

I checked out Bulbapedia. In the tv show, there were two trainers, May and Jessie. May evolved a Silicoon; Jessie, a Cascoon.

I’ve evolved two Wurmples so far, and naming them did the trick. Of course, it is a 50/50 shot, so I’m not positive this works.

P.S. If this is the trick, please remember it only works once. So if you’re REALLY wanting a Beautifly or Dustox, hold off until you get a decent Wurmple.

Try evolving one in the morning and one at night...?

I think I may have found a trick to evolving wurmple. Look at the dome bar under the rating on it. If it is close to being maxed out then it should become cascoon. If it's not then it will become silcoon. It has worked everytime for me.

I've noticed that if you power up your wurmple before evolving it, the result is a Cascoon. I've done this twice and both times the same result. Hope it works for you guys too!

Ok. I have done this twice and both times it worked.

-Get 24 candies and two wurmples
-Evolve two back to back in less than 1 min

First time I got Sillicoon and then Cassicoon
Second time I got Cassicoon and then Sillicoon.

Hope it works for you!

The male/female thing does work I had 2 Wurmples that were different sexes and I evolved them both and my female evolved into Silcoon and my male evolved into Cascoon.
