PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Fairy Wind synergizes the best with the role that Florges takes on.
  • Vine Whip is better for Grass-type Pokemon.
  • Razor Leaf falls slightly behind in performance, but not by much.
  • Tackle can't be Super Effective against anything.
  • Psychic surprisingly boasts the highest damage output against a neutral defender.
  • Moonblast is the recommended Charge Move when Super Effective due to STAB.
  • Petal Blizzard pairs well with the Fast Moves of Florges, but consider actual Grass-type Pokemon instead.
  • Disarming Voice performs poorly despite benefiting from STAB and being a multi-bar Charge Move.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Razor Leaf hits hard on defense and should be chosen in this scenario.
  • Vine Whip deals almost half as much damage by comparison.
  • Fairy Wind is very poor for defense.
  • Tackle can't be Super Efffective against anything, only neutral at best and resisted at worst.
  • Disarming Voice is recommended for defense due its frequent use as a multi-bar Charge Move.
  • Psychic performs well on defense due to its fast animation timing and coverage against Poison-types.
  • Petal Blizzard and Moonblast might not be used before Florges faints.

PVE Overview

Florges often takes newer and unsuspecting players by surprise, given its appearance that suggests the obvious Grass sub-typing. But don't be fooled, as Florges is a pure Fairy-type! Unfortunately other Fairy-type Pokemon like Gardevoir outperform Florges in the Fairy attacker role, making this Pokemon more of a dex filler than a meta attacker. Best of luck collecting all five colors and their shiny variants once they're released!

PvP Moveset Explanation

Fairy Wind + Disarming Voice and Psychic

Fairy Wind offers high energy generation and benefits from STAB. Vine Whip performs similarly, just as a different typing without STAB. Razor Leaf is an alternative choice that deals stronger damage, but makes it very difficult to access Charge Moves often.

Disarming Voice is the main Charge Move for Florges due to its lesser energy cost and benefiting from STAB. Moonblast shares the same Fairy typing, but its high energy cost discourages its use. Psychic demands quite a bit of energy, and is largely chosen for its coverage against Florges's weakness to Poison-type Pokemon. Petal Blizzard is very slow to access, and is therefore not recommended unless Florges is hoping to surprise common Water Pokemon.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 2.5 / 5

Florges takes unsuspecting opponents by surprise, being a mono-Fairy Pokemon despite its appearance suggesting it would be a Grass-type. Access to Fairy Wind is an improvement, though Florges still struggles due to its sluggish Charge Moves and unimpressive bulk.

Ultra League: 3 / 5

Fairy-typing is advantageous in Ultra League, and Florges can surprisingly get wins off various Water-types despite lacking STAB Grass-type damage. Unfortunately Florges has no answer to common Steel Pokemon, and its coverage option with Psychic is often not enough to flip matchups vs Poison-types.

Master League: 3.5 / 5

Florges would appreciate more stats for Master League, but regardless claims a surprising number of wins against the overall meta. Despite boasting a typing advantage against Dragonite, the matchup between them is very close, with both Pokemon doubly resisting each other's Fast Moves and the matchup ultimately decided based on landing Charge Moves. The lack of Poison-type Pokemon in this league is very favorable, and thus common Steel-types are the main threat to Florges.
