PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Snarl and Foul Play offer Mega Houndoom's strongest Dark Type moveset. Crunch is inferior in this role.
  • Fire Fang and Flamethrower make for Mega Houndoom's best Fire Type moveset, with Fire Blast trailing far behind.

PVE Overview

Mega Houndoom is one of the absolute strongest overall Dark Type attackers in the game, and a decent Fire Type attacker to boot.

For Dark Type Mega Evolutions, it's in something of a goldilocks zone. Mega Absol has it beaten in terms of DPS by a very small margin, but Mega Houndoom has a fair TDO advantage. Meanwhile, Mega Tyranitar has it beaten in TDO, but Mega Houndoom wins in DPS. When it comes right down to it, the best of the three can frequently come down to what coverage moves that a given raid boss is packing, though Mega Houndoom is sure to almost always be an outstand choice for a Dark Type Mega Evolution.

As a Mega Fire Type, Mega Houndoom is fairly comparable to Mega Charizard X in a neutral scenario, though a bit weaker. Still, it's a fine choice if you want to save mega energy for Charizard or Blaziken.
