PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Fury Cutter and X-Scissor make for Kricketune's best moveset. Infestation and Bug Buzz are both inferior.
  • Aerial Ace has no use on an offensive Kricketune... though an offensive Kricketune has virtually no use itself.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Struggle Bug provides superior defensive power when compared to Fury Cutter
  • Aerial Ace is the charged move of choice for its off-typing with Struggle Bug.
  • X-Scissor is similar to Aerial Ace, but both being the same type isn't ideal.
  • Bug Buzz has good power, but Kricketune needs to use its charged moves as much as possible to have any real value.

PVE Overview

Cricketune is one of many "early game bugs" that have come to Pokemon Go, and much like the majority of its contemporaries, it has no real viability to speak of. A weak species amid a weak type, Cricketune just isn't worth any investment, and lacks anything to make it special in the known future

PvP Moveset Explanation

Fury Cutter + X-Scissor and Aerial Ace or Bug Buzz

Fury Cutter is generally recommended for its fast energy gains. Struggle Bug offers stronger damage output, but gives up considerable energy gains, and results in less frequent charge move usage.

X-Scissor costs the least amount of energy, gets STAB, and can be spammed very frequently. Aerial Ace provides Flying-type coverage, but lacks STAB and doesn't provide a lot of damage output for its moderate energy cost. Bug Buzz demands the most energy, but is also the most powerful option available.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 1.5 / 5

Kricketune is a mono-Bug Pokemon with unimpressive bulk and fast but weak moves. With very fast access to Bug-type charge moves, Kricketune can easily beat most Grass-types in the meta, though it tends to struggle against Dark-types that don't have Counter as their main fast move (Scrafty, Obstagoon). While its Bug-type damage is Super Effective aganist Psychic-types, Kricketune doesn't resist Psychic-type damage, and its unimpressive stats may cause it to loose to considerably bulkier opponents like Hypno or Cresselia. Overall Kricketune isn't particulary impressive against the meta, but might have a niche in specific formats.

Ultra League: 0 / 5

Kricketune lacks stats for anything outside of Great League.

Master League: 0 / 5

Who can squish bugs the fastest with one shield? Rampardos and Shadow Tyranitar ties for first at 16 seconds, while Charmers like Shadow Gardevoir and Togekiss compete quite closely with Shadow Moltres and Shadow Aerodactyl.
