PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Waterfall gets STAB and is Lumineon's best fast move.
  • Water Gun also gets STAB, but slightly trails behind in performance.
  • Water Pulse isn't a great charge move, but gets STAB and pairs well with Lumineon's fast moves.
  • Blizzard isn't particularly useful for Lumineon's role, but in neutral fights it leaps ahead.
  • Silver Wind has no use.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Waterfall is much better on defense than Water Gun due to a higher base power.
  • Silver Wind is Lumineon's best charge move for defense, fires frequently as a 3-bar move, and hurts Grass-type counters.
  • Water Pulse gets STAB and is okay as a 2-bar move, but doesn't offer any additional coverage.
  • Blizzard hits hard and is harder to dodge than the others, but being a 1-bar move makes it difficult to use before Lumineon faints.

PVE Overview

Lumineon is unfortunately another one of those "dex entry" Pokemon that you collect and then move on. Poor stats and movesets prevent it from being valuable in PvE meta.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Water Gun or Waterfall + Silver Wind and Water Pulse or Blizzard

Water Gun is technically preferable for its higher energy gains, though Waterfall offers stronger damage output.

Silver Wind is needed for its lesser energy cost, though its damage output is pitiful. Blizzard demands the most energy, but wide coverage (including against its weakness to Grass) and the threat of dealing a KO can be valuable when shields are down. Water Pulse is a poor move due to its relatively high energy cost and poor damage output, but it does cost less energy than Blizzard

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 1 / 5

Getting this out of the way first: Lumineon is bad in a vacuum. The lack of any noteworthy moves makes it weak intrinsically. It only gets worse from there. When you note that Great League is already flush with powerful Water-type attackers, Lumineon goes from "individually not outstanding" to "bad, and also outclassed." Feel free to leave this one on the bench. The back of the bench. Further back than that. Thank you.

Ultra League: 0 / 5

Lumineon's low max CP adds even more problems to this already mediocre fish.

Master League:

In Master League Lumineon might look like a sushi dinner for some dragons and dinosaurs. Consider other Pokemon instead.
