Flavor of the Month Archive

Flavor of the Month: Xerneas' Debut

Xerneas is the first Legendary representative of the Fairy Type, leaving only Steel and Poison as weaknesses.

Flavor of the Month: Nature Trio's Return

In terms of counters, the Nature Trio all have an Ice weakness. Sticking with Ice Types is a safe bet, though their supremacy varies between the three Legendary Pokemon

Flavor of the Month: Landorus - Therian Forme

As always: it's best to stick with the Pokemon on the tier list whenever possible, but these Pokemon can be helpful in getting through Landorus - Therian Forme if you happen to obtain something high enough leveled. Just don't invest too heavily in them.

Flavor of the Month: Thornadus - Therian Forme's Debut

Tornadus - Therian Forme can hit surprisingly hard with Gust in particular, so Rock and Electric Types are generally the recommended way to go. Ice is okay for filler, but don't expect them to last too long.

Pokemon listed as Flavor of the Month are noted for their viability against the current Tier 5 boss(es). Pokemon listed in the higher tiers of this list will typically be better future investments, though this section provides additional options.

Flavor of the Month: Thundurus - Therian Forme's Debut

Thundurus - Therian Forme hits hard and is only weak to Ice and Rock Type Attacks. This opens up a number of budget options, but keep in mind that many of them have a sub-typing that makes them weak to Electric, which is very bad for such a powerful Electric Type raid boss.

The Eon Duo's Return

Latias and Latios both have a lot of weaknesses to exploit, and the Flavor of the Month has a fairly large number of types to pick from. If you happen to need some counters for these two, then these are decent options. As usual, it's probably best to look for something weather boosted for these, and not invest much in them.

Suicune's Return

Suicune's mono-Water typing gives it only two counter types: Electric and Grass. While the top counters tend to be very powerful, the Pokemon on this list are at least reasonable if you happen to find a weather boosted individual and don't want to spend any stardust.

FotM - Kyurem's Return

Kyurem has many weaknesses to exploit, and is weak to many of the top attackers on this list. Rock, Steel, and Dragon in particular are home to some very strong attackers that can make quick work of it, though these Pokemon can help fill in a team gap if need be.

Return of the Swords of Justice

Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion have returned to the raid scene, bringing a fairly varied flavor of the month.

  • Cobalion is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground
  • Terrakion is weak to Fighting, Water, Grass, Psychic, Fairy, Steel, and Ground
  • Virizion is weak to Psychic, Poison, Fire, Ice, and Fairy, with a double weakness to Flying

Aeroblast Lugia's Debut

A lot of players are excited for Aeroblast and want to take on the Great Wall of Pokemon. For this undertaking, you're going to want to focus on powerful Ghost, Dark, Ice, Electric, and Rock Types.
