Go Fest 2022

It's that time again! Niantic has given us an official announcement for Go Fest 2022. This is the year's premier Pokemon Go event, and while it's undergone some changes over the past few years, it looks like they're trying to sort of tie the event back to its roots while also keeping it accessible. While the announcement is pretty bare-bones, what can we derive from what little Niantic has given us? Let's take a look!

Go Fest 2022

Day One Day Two Bonus Event
June 4, 2022 June 5, 2022 August 27, 2022

The normal Go Fest will take place globally on the above dates, with a related one-day event scheduled for late August to finish out the event. We also have three different in-person events scheduled for the summer.

In-Person Events
Event Start Event End Location
July 1, 2022 July 3, 2022 Berlin, Germany
July 22, 2022 July 24, 2022 Seattle, WA, USA
August 5, 2022 August 7, 2022 Sapporo, Japan

About the Event

On the surface, Niantic didn't give us much to go on when it comes to figuring out what they may have in store for the event. Just dates, locations, and the title image.

Well, they did tip their hands in a few ways; two, to be exact. The first is the different dates for the event. When taken as a whole, we see events announced ranging from the start of June to the end of August. This range will just happen to coincide with whatever our next season may be, meaning Go Fest will very likely be tied to it in one way or another.

The second is the image itself. Much like last year's musical note motif, this time we see the pedals of a pink flower stretching out from behind the Go Fest 2022 logo. And not just any flower, this is the unmistakable Gracidea Flower from the Pokemon games, a flower that is directly tied to one very specific Mythical Pokemon:

Based on this, it's basically assured that we're very likely getting the Generation 4/Sinnoh Mythical Pokemon, Shaymin. And with the semi-recent release of the forme change mechanic, we MAY also see its Sky Forme released as well. Time will tell!
