Groudon is BACK and comes with a nifty shiny form. This raid should be very popular and will be the easiest to find groups for in a while; however, that doesn’t mean you should ignore the shortman. In an easier world of raids, the Groudon poses a pretty significant challenge. In addition, you want to maximize rewards and Premier Balls to catch that hundo!

The trio isn’t easy per se, but very possible. Trainers can use level 30 big Waters (Kyogre, Gyarados, Feralgatr), Grasses (Venusaur, Breloom, both Exeggutors, Sceptile), fakers (Solar Beam Groudon, Solar Beam Latios, Ice Beam Mewtwo, Hydropump Salamene), and a couple more fragile options (Swampert & Weavile) to get the job done. Be very aware of Groudon’s moveset. It should be easy to tell from autoselect, and you want to avoid Grass against Fireblast, avoid water vs Solar Beam, and prioritize Gyarados vs Earthquake. Trainers with higher level Pokemon or weather boost should have no trouble.

The duo on the other hand gets tough. Unboosted is very difficult, but it only took Kieng & SparklTangerine hours to get it done. If you don’t have 6 maxed Kyogre, don’t worry. The boosted rainy duo is more reasonable. Clear and Snow are possible too, but very difficult

Team composition

  • Kyogre is fantastic against Fireblast and good vs EQ, Solar beam is often a 1 hit KO

  • Gyarados is a strong option vs Earthquake in Rain

  • Grass excels in Sun, but boosted Fire Blast is tricky

  • Mewtwo can duo in Snow, but requires a dodge or two

  • The lobby glitch is highly recommended as every second counts

  • Relobby is required for some duos. Be sure to stagger re-entry such that one trainer is always battling. Otherwise Groudon will regenerate some energy

Dodging strategy

  • Unboosted Duo with Kyogre requires a few well-timed dodges

  • Boosted duos benefit from mild dodging for energy management

  • Be aware of the dodge glitch death loop when dodging
