Overview

Even with the power of friendship, only a handful of Pokemon can duo Lapras in any weather against any of its movesets. Fortunately, Lapras has 4 weaknesses each spread among the 4 most common weather types. More likely than not, raiders can tailor their teams to include weather boosted counters, which provides some breathing room in this otherwise difficult duo.

Lapras’s Water and Ice moves hit some of its counters for effective damage, which complicates things. Grass-types shrug off Surf and Hydro Pump but fear Blizzard, for example. If you find yourself attempting to duo an unfriendly moveset, you should hope that your dodging is up to par, or load up on neutral weather counters. Magnezone and Roserade can cover all charged moves.

Approach

Team composition

  • Let the weather dictate your team: Grass in clear, Rock in partly cloudy, and so on

  • Magnezone and Roserade do great vs. Ice and Water, respectively

  • Raikou, Rampardos, Electivire, Machamp can fill in a roster’s gaps

Dodging strategy

  • Dodging a few Hydro Pump, Blizzard can save time by totally avoiding a relobby

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
