Overview
Omastar has a high defense stat among tier 3 bosses, but it’s easy to underestimate its bulk because of a double weakness to Grass. Grass is the key to soloing Omastar. High DPS attackers with only a single type advantage such as Raikou nearly don't cut it at maxed level.
Similar to Vaporeon, Omastar has fast moves that barely pose a threat, but it can launch a devastating Hydro Pump with little notice. Its Rock-type charge moves are not resisted by the traditional Grass-type counters, are used often, and Rock Blast in particular is tricky to dodge.
Approach
Team composition
- Grow that grass: 10 of 12 fastest counters to Omastar are Grass-types
- Machamp and Raikou are viable near max level, if already powered up
- Groudon greatly aids victory against Rock Blast and Ancient Power sets
Dodging strategy
- Hydro Pump and Rock Blast can snuff out a Solar Beam before it hits
- At low levels (≤30), should dodge a few Ancient Power to not wipe out
- If failing: attempt fewer dodges if timing out, more dodges if fainting out
