Pinsir is a deceptively difficult raid boss to solo, but making a team to beat it can be a worthwhile goal, as many of its top counters tend to be very secure in their niches and can provide coverage that will likely prove valuable in future raids. Its difficulty stems from its fairly high defense stat and coverage moves that can be somewhat threatening when used by a raid boss.
Weaknesses and Strengths:
Weaknesses: Fire, Flying, Rock
Strengths: Fighting, Grass, Ground
- Fire Types tend to be the strongest option, as they have high DPS and tend to resist most of what Pinsir can throw at them. The fact that Clear weather is very common in many parts of the world makes them even more appealing.
- Flying Types are also viable, especially when they lack a sub-typing that makes them take neutral damage from Pinsir's Fighting Type moves.
- Rock Types are a bit risky, as they only resist Vise Grip naturally, and are also weak to Pinsir's Fighting Type coverage unless they have a synergetic sub-type. They should generally be used as a last resort, or if the weather is partly clody and you're confident in your dodging abilities.
While many Pokemon are viable for this raid, we recommend that you make your picks from the appropriate types listed on the Best Pokemon by Type list, as they will tend to run through this raid far easier than most of the competition, and they're less likely to become badly outclassed in the future.
