Pokemon Go: Content Update for June 2021

May's end is almost here, and we're looking the beginning of June squarely in the eye. Whether you're in the Northern Hemisphere with the beginning of Summer just around the corner, or in the Southern Hemisphere with Winter creeping up behind, Niantic is once again poised to capitalize on the change of season... but, strangely, we still don't have any idea what's coming after the season of Legends, which ends in just a few days.

Giovanni's Return

As Niantic promised after April's issues, Shadow Zapdos is making its return in June. A particularly powerful Shadow Pokemon, Shadow Zapdos can help out with any team needing Electric Type damage. Note that after Shadow Zapdos has had its run, another yet-to-be-announced Pokemon will take its place.

June 2021 Research Breakthrough

Clamperl is... rare? That's about all that can be said about this research breakthrough reward. However, this isn't the only reward! Every research breakthrough in June will offer a remote raid pass and 2x XP. At least this way the month isn't a total loss.

An event focused around lazy Pokemon, including the introduction of Galarian Slowpoke and Galarian Slowbro. This will be a perfect time to prep for Mega Slowbro.... if you happen to want one.

The return of the solstice event, with Summer Pokemon in the northern hemisphere and Winter Pokemon in the southern hemisphere. We can also expect to see Solrock and Lunatone change places, as they do every year.

Unnamed Event
Event Start Event End
June 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time July 1, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. local time

We currently have no information on this event, aside from the line that trainers will be able to "sink their two front teeth into an unexpected event". Speculation is rampant in the community, but no answer seems to be outstanding thus far.
