PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Mud Shot and Earthquake are the way to go with Diggersby.
  • Quick Attack and Hyper Beam have the advantages of being the same type and having STAB, but Normal is the worst type in the game for raids.
  • Dig and Fire Punch are worthless on Diggersby.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Quick Attack is superior to Mud Shot on defense.
  • Fire Punch comes out fast and frequently, making it ideal for defense.
  • Dig is an okay choice as well.
  • Earthquake and Hyper Beam probably won't even see use before Diggersby faints.

PVE Overview

The Gen 6 Raticate, ladies and gentlemen! In the main series, Diggersby has the ability Huge Power, which dobles its attack stat and makes it very formidable. Here in Go, abilities don't exist, so Diggersby is basically nothing beyond a simple dex filler on the PvE side.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Mud Shot + Earthquake and Fire Punch

Mud Shot features superior energy generation, letting Diggersby access its charge moves sooner. Quick Attack falls behind in energy gains and offers stronger Normal-type damage, but this is neutral at best and can't be Super Effective vs anything, making it generally inferior.

Earthquake costs a lot of energy, but benefits from STAB and provides powerful Ground-type coverage. Fire Punch is recommended for its cheaper energy cost, allowing better shield-baiting and pressure, while also covering the weakness to Grass and Ice-type Pokemon. Dig and Hyper Beam demand too much energy to use.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 4 / 5

Diggersby's moveset copies that of Groudon's, and for the purposes of Great League, fulfills a similar role. Access to Fire Punch lets it stand out among other "mud" styles of Pokemon, though this is generally not enough to beat most meta Grass-types, and meta Ice-types typically also have a Water sub-typing to neutralize Fire-type damage. Flying-types and Water-types are essentially walls to this rabbit, but with high bulk, a unique Normal/Ground typing, and a spammy moveset, Diggersby stands to challenge much of the meta.

Ultra League: 0 / 5

Diggersby has inadequate stats to compete outside of Great League.

Master League: 0 / 5

Diggersby isn't an Easter Bunny, but it would still give its opponents free wins.
