Spawn Spotlights

Marill Family

  • Pokemon Type: Water, Fairy
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy, Cloudy
  • Available From: Wild, Go Battle League, Research
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: PvP (Great League)

Azumarill is the most ubiquitous Pokemon in the Great League. If you’ve played Go Battle League, I’m sure you’ve seen this Pokemon in action. This event can be a great time to pick up a cheap, weather-boosted Marill for the GBL.

Torchic Family

  • Pokemon Type: Fire
  • Boosted Weather: Clear
  • Available From: Wild
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Raids, Rocket Battles, Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

You’ll probably want to wait till December to evolve this Fire-type for its exclusive move, Blast Burn but Blaze Kick is basically just as good.  There’s much better Fighting-type Pokemon but Blaziken still passes here too.

In PvP, Blaziken is a little attack, weighted to truly shiny, but has some utility in all three formats.

Exeggcute Family

  • Pokemon Type: Grass, Psychic
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Windy
  • Available From: Wild
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Raids (Draft), Rocket Battles

Exeggutor has been usurped by recent additional Grass-type attackers but can still put up a fight, and it can pass as a Psychic-type too!

Eevee Family

  • Pokemon Type: Normal
  • Boosted Weather: Partly Cloudy
  • Available From: Wild, Research
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Raids, PvP (Umbreon in the Great League), Limited PvP (Silph Cups)

Eevee caught during this event will have a flower crown.

Eevee can be an amazing role filler for new and returning players alike. All forms except Umbreon are good for Raiding, with Espeon, Glaceon, and Leafeon being the biggest standouts.

And Umbreon has a home too. In the Great League, Umbreon can be very powerful! Just make sure you evolve it in December so it has the exclusive Last Resort.

Mareep Family

  • Pokemon Type: Electric
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy
  • Available From: Wild
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups)

Ampharos isn’t a PvP all-star, though it does have some use for the Great and Ultra Leagues.

Research Rewards

Hatch an Egg: Eevee

with a flower crown. Can be shiny.

Hatch 2 Eggs : Azumarill

Hatch 3 Eggs : Alolan Exeggutor

Can be shiny. Alolan Exeggutor is about as good a Grass-type attacker as the Kantonian forme.

Hatch 4 Eggs : Chansey

Can be shiny. Chansey spawns are slightly boosted this event. Chansey and Blissey are the premiere Gym defenders and have the smallest of uses in the Great and Ultra Leagues respectively.

Hatch 5 Eggs : Audino

No current use, but is very cute. Audino also has a Mega evolution which may or may not make its way into Go eventually.

2km Egg Hatches

Pichu and Togepi obtained during this event will wear a flower crown. Togepi with a flower crown cannot evolve. Pichu, Togepi,  Happiny, and Riolu can be shiny.

Togekiss is a great Pokemon in all three leagues. Unfortunately, you’ll only be hatching for candy, as these Togepi cannot evolve.

Lucario is the premiere Fighting-type attacker for Raid battles and an extremely useful Pokemon in Go Battle League, particularly in the Ultra and Master Leagues.

Munchlax can put up a fight itself in the Great League. Snorlax is great in all three, and a core part of the Master League.

Cosmetic Pokemon

All of these Pokemon are appearing for a limited time with event-specific cosmetics. Of the three, only Eevee can evolve. All three can appear shiny.
