Monetary Value of Pokemon: How much would you pay for...?

I think when trading comes out, we could start seeing Pokemon getting monetary values. Although this would be dependent on market prices, I would probably be willing to pay at least $20 Canadian ($15 American) for a Lapras or Snorlax with 90%+IV, over 2000CP and a good moveset.

I think my 5 most valuable Pokemon are:
Dragonite 3292 CP, 98%iv Steel Wing and Dragon Pulse
Poliwrath 2285 CP, 100%iv Bubble and Submission
Blastoise 1833 CP, 100%IV Water Gun and Hydro Pump
Charizard 844 CP, 100%IV Ember and Flame Thrower
Christmas Pikachu, 607CP, 100% IV, Thunder Shock and Thunder Bolt

How much do you think these Pokemon are worth?
What are your 5 most valuable Pokemon, and how much (if at all) would you sell them for?

In a world without Spoofers, Pokemon might have value.

In a world with Spoofers, the value will be small. under a dollar.

I wouldnt enjoy using a bought pokemon, so 0 for me. On the other hand, I wouldnt sell my db/dc 82% Dragonite if offered 30 usd.

This is the reason I hope they never introduce trading.

With that large player base, cheating and money trading will go rampant. Prices will fluctuate a lot in the beginning and at any new expansion.

Your Dragonite will be worth only a fraction of a perfect 100%. Your 100% mons will be next to worthless since they are not the top tier.

My top pokemons are the result of me walking for more than 1000 hours, 1700km, in rain, snow, sleet and gale winds. I have spent hundreds of dollars on incubators. I would never sell some of my most precious mon for a a couple of dollars :-)

And am not interested in buy either.

When that is said, I understand people who want to trade with their family and friends. I just do not know how to make a solution that allows that, but cannot be abused by those who want.

What range would you say next to worthless would be? Like, if I said hey man, I'll give you my Poliwrath for $5? Would you say no?

And what do you think a 100%iv perfect defensive moveset Dragonite would be worth?

A lot of people would pay x00 dollars for high IV ZH-BS Snorlax.

Did you know that assigning monetary value to Pokémon (as well as items) for purposes including trading is a violation of the TOS?

For Pokemon Go you mean? Not Pokemon in general right? Like cards obviously have monetary value

I hope the Niantic powers that be are smart enough to see how this concept will ruin the game. Used to play bloodbrothers and it ruined that game. The day trading comes out is the day I quit.

Hopefully they implement a mechanic similar to the Global Trading Station from Gen 4&5 of the pokemon games (see: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Global_Terminal)

Allowing an indirect means to trade (instead of person-to-person) may make it difficult or even impossible to set-up real-world trades.

I personally want trading, and wish it will be implemented in such a way that does not encourage or allow real-world trading.

This can be an idea...maybe if it's anonymous, there will be no way to know who you traded with to exchange real life dollars...

which will decrease the use of bot sellers.

I want trading only for a shot at the regionals short of $$$ to travel (which I don't have) to get them. I would never pay for one which is odd saying that considering how much I've spent on this game to get what I've got. So in a sense there is already a monetary value on them. Guess it's ok if Niantic is the only Pimp on the street corner.

I hope they never introduce trading neither...

That said, I would pay $0 since it's cheap to me to do that (I don't even like mon trackers) and am a free to play player.

If anything, I want them to make super hard quest like say, if you hike up to Yosemite halfdome, the top, you can get this mon at "Lvl 1",

OR super hard quest like fight 1000 battles against a 3000CP Snorlax with this mon and get it to do a special move or whatever.

Walking is too simple of a buddy system.

Sorta like how I'd gladly go to far off gyms to get a spot than the drive by ones. Spoofers ruin everything though.

Part of the reason I'm asking is because I have a bit of money (lets say $20) to buy a Pokemon I really want but I don't have infinite money to spend on Niantic's extremely expensive incubators to hope that one day I'll get the Pokemon I want. That's kinda the angle I'm coming from.

I collect Pokemon cards and I approach cards the same way. I don't have money to buy endless packs to get the cards I want. But I can spend a few bucks to get individuals that I want. Maybe you guys don't approach things the same way (which is totally cool and understandable :) )

Problem is that only publisher can make cards, but in PoGo spoofers can make pokemons.

What do you mean they can "make" pokemon? Spoofers just mess with gps hacking in order to be different places that they aren't currently. It doesn't grant them the ability to create pokemon out of thin air.

Could go even further: for how much would you sell your account (perhaps you're tired of playing or would rather start a new account)?

(PS - I'm not buying..)

Or you could go even further and probably raise the value if you vlogged with your account, got people emotionally invested into it and then sold it. Like if a big shot Youtuber like AliA sold his Pokemon account, I bet he could make some good money (not that he needs money lol)

Well I just checked on ebay.
Lots of lvl 30-35 accounts for $20-30. Some of them promise 50+ dragonites, Snorlax and lapras. Many 100% and millions of stardust and loads of candy.
Of course not obtained by fair means.

But looking at that one of mine 96% Dragonite with second best moves would not be worth much. ;-)
Especially not thinking of those hundreds of hours it took to find enough dratinis.

Doesn't seem worth the time for sellers even, with the hassle of cheating, posting, waiting, dealing with buyers just for 20 bucks a piece. Hopefully most of them are scams anyway.

Yes, I guess most of them are scams.
But it gives a hint about how rampant it may get with trading.

Out of that list, I would say your Pikachu is the most valuable. Right now, he is the rarest pokemon in the game, especially if he doesn't come out next Christmas.

I hate this and the worst part is that people that actually want trading with friends and family can't do it still because of this...I really miss trading from the GB games and it would be an amazing feature to add to this game, mons that only evolve by trading, getting other regional mons from it, sharing your best mons with friends so they can test them on battle...And just because of this people, of money tradings, of hackers, none of us can enjoy it, this is really sad...

You can buy entire accounts on ebay with maxed out 90%+ IV top tier Pokemon for around $20. So in short, no I would not pay $20 for a Lapras.

Up

People are currently selling whole accounts for pennies on the dollar compared to the amount of labor and/or actual cash that went into them. Keep dreaming...

Up

Sorry waterlooyo but $20 is a lot more than you would ever get for a level 40 100% Lapras. Search pokemon go accounts for sale and prepare to devastated.

Trading will never come to this game.

Up

Hope everyone is right that trading won't be coming anytime soon...

Also, I think the accounts sold tend to be people who ran bots selling them...I'd guess most people won't be selling an account they spend months/hundreds of hours working on. Sellers don't mind since those were botted accounts which might get banned (hopefully).

I know I wouldn't sell my account.

Simply not intrested in trading tbh and the day it comes is the day I stop playing. Nice idea but too many spoofers so just another way to cheat.

Up

If there are already ways to buy pokemon go accounts, why should it be any different if individual pokemon were sold? If there are already ways to cheat, why should it matter if there is another way to cheat? This shouldn't prevent the game from becoming a better game.

I think trading would work over Bluetooth that way you have to phisicly trade over Pokémon instead of WiFi so yeah spoofers and bots would not work in that sytom of trading

I saw some facebooker selling trainer accounts full of Snorlaxes, Dragonites, Lapras... only for 20-30$. How do you think your pokemons will have that values?

Up

Vaporeon 2909 CP, 100%, WG/AT
Blastoise 1506 CP, 100%, WG/IB
Charizard 1526 CP, 95.6%, WA/FT
Poliwrath 2113 CP, 91.1%, B/HP

But apart from the Blastoise, I don't want to sell any of them, unless you pay me 50000USD
