single players can win raids
I play alone and was worried about it is possibly. It is so this will not be the end of the solo, rural player.

Sounds right based on my little experience. 1 "face" equals about 1 good player, in most cases. Against a level 4 (4 faces) we timed out against the Charizard with 3 people. With 4 people and a properly selected team, we beat it with 20 seconds to go.
Depending on the defender, I think it is possible for an elite player to solo the raid bosses up to level 3. The issue is more timing out, not them defeating your team.
Thanks for your insight...I probably need to get 6 of every "Type" covered and that will be my next goal/project...
I got a lot of Champs already, just need the TMs now to fix their quick move...
Probably will power up a Houndoom to deal with psychic raid bosses...probably a lot more, have to think it out and see what I got.
That is actually exactly what I am doing right now. You don't have much time to select teams, so I am getting 6 pokemon to cover each type and naming them !G ect.
Haven't made it though all of my pokemon yet, but I should be pretty set, minus fighting, but I do have 2 high level Machamps with double fighting moves. I have a maxed out it/c Tyranitar that I will prob use my first TM to give him bite, since I don't really need him as a defender anymore.
Houndoom is probably a good bet, not many dark options. I might need to go that route too, or maybe my shadow ball Alakazam. Oh, my snarl/crunch Arcanine will probably work alright too, now that SE is more important than STAB.
You may have seen this, but here's a good post from a Lvl 40 Trainer in Tokyo taking on a 25k Snorlax in a raid (his analysis/thoughts on doing 5 raids today):
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/6j2mhk/impressions_of_5_raids_done_today/
Just scroll down where it's about the Snorlax...He had 6 or 7 guys doing the raid with him and and just "barely" won...most of the other trainers are 38+ as well...He failed like 6 or 7 times prior...
As I've mentioned many times and he agrees, you need more Machamps to deal with the toughest (timeout issues) defenders in the game...This is namely Blissey, Snorlax, Lapras, Tyranitar and Chancey...
T-rex and Dnite are good, but with SE doing more damage now, timeouts are still real for the hardest raid bosses...not to mention everyone having lag, swapping bugs, etc....
Machamp covers 5 of these top dogs...For Dnite, if even tough with double weakness, I'm planning to get an army of Jynx and Lapras...
I have 6 Machamps already, just need to reroll moves and power up...
Thanks, I'll check it out. Based on what I have seen, it will not be one of those top bosses most of the time, so the pokemon you have will most likely do the job.
Machamp is clearly the best choice. I am working on maxing out the 2 I have, but I also have a 20xx cp one with bullet punch and dynamic punch. I guess it is time to start walking a Machop. I wonder if Ursaring is a decent option?
By the way, what is the difference between level and difficulty in the raids?
The level is the "egg" level so a pink egg is level 1 or 2, a yellow egg is level 3 or 4. 5 is probably reserved for legendary mons...We actually saw a level 4 Tyranitar raid boss yesterday, but couldn't get to that gym in time since there is no parking there and there was only 7 minutes left on the timer (not to mention we probably won't win in time).
Difficulty is what Niantic "thinks" the difficulty of this mon is I believe...It has the same icon, but can be different from the level...
Like the Muk I fought was a level 2 egg (pink, 2 faces), but when you try to fight it, it showed a Difficulty of 1 face and they recommended 9 trainers...(really not since we could have soloed it, use it as a casual player gauge).
