GamePress

What iv calculator do you prefer?

The only ones I know that most people use or have used at one point is the one off gamepress, poke assistant, poke genie and ivcalcy.

For each one, if you have used all of them or only used certain ones post your pros and cons on them. If there’s one I possibly didn’t mention or never heard of that also is just as good as the ones I mentioned please post it below.

Edit: Also put the one you prefer the most and why. (Got a feeling I’m gonna see a lot of people saying poke genie or ivcalcy lol.)

The only one I use is Poke Genie.

  • It doesn't require any manual entry; it scrubs everything it needs from a screen shot.
  • It doesn't access your PoGo account or the actual app so, therefore, doesn't introduce risk of shadow ban.
  • It ranks the movesets as well (even though some rankings differ from those here) and allows you to change them up to see which combinations are better or worse.
  • It allows you to simulate evolutions and power ups and tells you exactly how much dust and candy it'll take.

Really, I can't think of a downside of this app. It's awesome.

I use CalcyIV, for a general answer as I play.

But it only gives % rather than actual IV - so it is nothing more than an indicator that I need to check it later with something more definitive - because % is about as useful as teats on a bull if you want to make a totally informed decision.

For the definitive answer, I use GP...out of habit and because I trust it to be accurate and reliable (and because I spend a lot of time on the site already).

I use CalcyIV and it gives me actual values. It usually starts out with a range, but you can enter the appraisal information and it usually narrows it down nicely. Overall, it's a great app.

It is too clunky to use as I play, which is when I use it.
It gives actual values...but as a %, not a true IV split (unless I am doing it wrong)
...in fairness to the app, it is difficult to narrow down a true IV split for many mons without the appraisal info.

When I have more time, then I use something more user friendly, to give a true breakdown...and I do it on a computer, with my phone next to me on charge.

For the job it does of giving a % indication in quick time, then CalcyIV works very well for me...but it still needs help.

I wonder if you're doing something wrong. This picture is before appraisal...

Yup...I was doing it wrong - thanks.
I have had a better look at the settings, and found what I need (tbh I had only had a lazy look at settings before this).

For anyone else that is reading this and wonders what changes it...

That’s how I feel about poke genie, (on iPhone so can’t get ivcalcy.)

There both good apps for checking iv’s but gamepress for me works great. If I wanna find out a iv of a mon from a raid I can do that, if I want to get the exact appraisal for a certain mon I can pick my teams appraisal and once I figure out the exact stats and level for said mon I can check how much stardust I would need to spend on the mon and the exact cp it would be at a certain level. The only flaw I see with the gamepress calculator is it does give you multiple possibilities for certain appraisals but most the ones online/on websites do that, so overall really like how the one on this site is set up.

I know poke genie and ivcalcy do have the same features I mentioned, but I’ve been useing this one off the site for so long and never had a issue so why switch up now?

Also, I don’t like poke genie on iOS atleast because you can’t just press the button for the app on the side of your screen like on android. You gotta take screenshots and then open the app which isn’t hard just easier for me at this point to just open gp and pogo and check iv’s that way.

PokeGenie works best for me, it allows me to instantly check the IV of a caught pokemon and decide if I candy or keep it with poke space being somewhat of an issue and you can check what move set you might want to TM if at all.

I tried both Poke Genie and Calcy IV on my phone (Android) and I think Poke Genie is slower than Calcy IV. Sometime Poke Genie slowdown PoGo.

PokéGo Master, completely safe, but it crashes more often these times.

[Android 7.1] I first tried Poke Genie and it was great. Then I found Calcy IV and it was awesome: less permissions required is definitely a win. I also believe Calcy IV has more useful features that hardcore PoGO players need. You should try both and draw the conclusion yourself. :)

I have personally tried GoIV (not to be confused with IVGo), Calcy IV and PokeGenie.
Out of the three, Calcy IV won out due to having the best combination of features and speed.
GoIV was the fastest, but is very bare bones.
PokeGenie was the slowest, and was so frustraitingly slow that I spent the least time testing it and wouldn't recommend it for checking mass quantities of mons, but it might be fine for checking mons as you catch them if you don't mind the lag.

CalcyIV and PokeGenie have similar features and are both great for not only checking IVs, but for renaming mons to reflect it's IV%, actual IVs, moveset and typing, gender, and beyond. Admittedly, PokeGenie was so slow that I spent less time testing it, so there could very well be features that might give it an edge, but I don't know what it could do to make up for the slowness. If your phone handles it faster, it could still be a good option. Otherwise, I say Calcy IV is currently the best IV calculating app.
It also features a catch-screen option that can give you a bit of an idea of what the mon being caught could have as an IV. It can't get too accurate, and it states that itself, but it can at least tell you if your mon has a possibility of 100% before you even catch it.
