Overview

Tornadus - Therian Forme is generally considered the least useful member of either version of the genie trio of Generation 5. It's fairly weak overall, and not worth investing in heavily, but oh boy its raid can be a bit of a doozey. Blessed with one of the strongest fast moves that a raid boss could have and some decent counter-coverage options, this can be either a tough fight or an easy brawl depending on your team and the moveset faced.

A duo is possible, but it relies fairly heavily on boosts and/or Shadow Pokemon, so this guide will cover the more achievable trio.

Approach

Team composition

  • Mega Evolutions can help tremendously. Focus on Mega Manectric or Mega Ampharos, only using Mega Abomasnow in the snow or if your raid team is ice-heavy.

  • Electric Types tend to have the strongest overall performance, followed by Rock Types and then Ice Types

  • Aim for strong TDO options and flying resistances. Gust is a threatening move for a raid boss, so be ready for it.

Battling strategy

  • Re-entering may be necessary; strong lineups for the trio won’t have to re-enter

  • Since TDO tends to be a larger issue than DPS, dodging is recommended.

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
