Overview

Umbreon is as close to a punching bag as tier 3 raid bosses get. It doesn’t do much damage, and the only viable counters are a pair of Fighting-type Pokemon. However, much like a punching bag, you may very well end up punching and punching this thing and still never break it.

Approach

Preparing for the Solo

  • Without a bit of insane luck, Umbreon can no longer be soloed without a weather boost or an bonus from a friendship-boosted account that is not actively fighting. (a "Pseudo Solo"
  • The DPS needed for a Solo is slightly shy of what's needed for Machamp and Breloom, though it may be possible with exploits.
  • Plan on waiting for Cloudy weather

Team composition

  • Use L40 Counter + Dynamic Punch Machamp or Breloom. Everything else falls short.

  • Focus heavily on damage. Even with ideal counters, this is a race against the clock!

Dodging strategy

  • Don't. You need to get every attack in that you can, and the Fighters resist all of Umbreon's moves.

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
