PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Air Slash is the strongest fast move on offense, dealing Flying-type damage.
  • Zen Headbutt isn't far behind, but offers Psychic-type damage instead.
  • Psybeam gets STAB and performs the best for attacking.
  • Air Cutter isn't particularly strong, but with STAB it pairs for a Flying-type role.
  • Signal Beam is a decent move but doesn't have much use for Sigilyph.
  • Ancient Power is poor for offense.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Air Slash is slightly stronger than Zen Headbutt for defense, but both are similar.
  • Psybeam is the best overall for defense in terms of damage, speed, and accessibility.
  • Ancient Power can be used frequently as a 3-bar move, but is very easy to dodge.
  • Signal Beam can hurt Dark-type attackers.
  • Air Cutter is decent as a STAB 2-bar move, but could also be easily resisted.

PVE Overview

Sigilyph is a regional largely based around Egypt, Greece, and some surrounding areas. It has decent stats and a defensive typing which is appealing for a gym defender, but its movesets are quite poor. More often than not, Sigilyph is acquired for the dex entry.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Air Slash + Signal Beam and Ancient Power or Psybeam

Air Slash balances average damage output and energy gains, and in addition gets STAB. Zen Headbutt is very poor for PvP.

None of Sigilyph's charge moves are strong, but Signal Beam deals a decent amount of damage for its moderate energy cost, and also provides coverage against Dark-types. Ancient Power costs the least amount of energy, but its damage output is very poor. Air Cutter or Psybeam could be chosen for some STAB secondary damage, but their energy costs prevents any meaningful shield pressure.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 1 / 5

Sigilyph has almost no use in PvP due to its horrible charge moves, but gets a point on the board for claiming some wins when given a typing advantage.

Ultra League: 1 / 5

A handful of wins against certain Grass-types and Fighting-types is nice, but other Pokemon can perform much better.

Master League: 0 / 5

Some say Sigilyph obtained its Flying typing after being sent to heaven from being KO'd so much. ......was that too Dark?
