Overall, this fight is not exactly difficult to take on. The most note-worthy opponent in the lineup is Kingdra with Vigilance, meaning the headliner for the event, Palkia, will struggle to break it to some degree due to the spacial dragon’s reliance on Critical hits. A single-team run is easy given the right setup, and a second can easily clean up afterwards should anything go wrong. 

Sycamore & Xerneas - Cyrus & Palkia - Player & Torchic

This team composition largely trivializes the entire run. Sycamore & Xerneas is an outstanding tank unit that can shrug off most attacks and heal up with ease, giving the entire team room to breathe. The goal should be to Sync with them as quickly as possible in order to pave the way for Palkia to begin steamrolling everything on the field, and then focus on using Horn Leech to heal up any damage taken. The World is Vast! should generally be saved for after the team has taken a bit of damage so that its effects are not wasted.

Player & Torchic are here to provide much-needed auxiliary offensive support with Blazing Hope! in order to allow Palkia to consistently score Critical Hits, though the usefulness of X Attack All is also worth noting, as it further buffs the damage of Xerneas’ Horn Leech beyond the Critical Rate buffs, which in turn increases the resulting recovery.

When fully buffed, Cyrus & Palkia actually have very respectable damage if played to their strengths. With +2 Critical Rate from Player & Torchic, Spacial Rend actually has a 100% Critical rate, and their sync move has the same Critical rate as other sync pairs at +3. Depending on the grid setup chosen, Critical Rate support from Player & Torchic may become less necessary, as it’s not terribly hard to naturally reach +3 Critical Rate. Using New World Order! Early on may be advisable, as it boosts Speed before Xerneas has the chance to provide its buffs, and the sync grid node Healthy Healing can generally restore the HP lost in very short order.
