General Information
Happy New Year! Like we’ve seen with the Halloween and Christmas events this year, our event for New Years is about collecting various different types of tokens (in this case cards) to trade to the shop for prizes. The event includes the customary Full Force Battle set with advantages for the featured sync pairs for the event, New Years Lance & Gyarados and New Years Lillie & Ribombee, and can net the player a grand total of 1,110 free gems, not including daily login bonuses. Note that completing most of the repeatable stages in this event has a small chance to unlock the event area “Dragon of Good Fortune”, which is a one-time play area that gives a large number of items with no stamina cost and disappears once completed until unlocked again. For this reason, players interested in collecting maximum rewards as quickly as possible should challenge the stages one at a time and not stack multiple skip tickets, as it’s possible to waste a Dragon of Good Fortune stage unlock that way.

Several of these sync pairs use high power/lower accuracy moves such as Mega Kick, which makes evasion support from sync pairs like New Years Lillie & Ribombee or Misty & Starmie particularly useful.
F2P Teamset:
Mew & Prof. Oak + Iris & Haxorus + Misty & Starmie
Mew & Prof. Oak’s ability to potentially drop the opponent’s accuracy with Swift could be invaluable given the opposing team’s tendency to use powerful moves, and can be compounded by Misty & Starmie’s fairly unique ability to raise Evasion. They also make a great tank and appreciate Misty & Starmie’s ability to raise Sp.Def and heal. Iris & Haxorus are the damage dealers, and can quickly snowball. The biggest early-battle threat is arguably Venomoth in the first set due to its ability to set a critical shield, though taking it out before it can do this is not easy.
Rosa & Serperior + Flannery & Torkoal + Silver & Ho-Oh
Rosa & Serperior tank and buff, Silver & Ho-Oh deal solid damage and set the sun, and Flannery & Torcoal use these advantages to unload a surprisingly strong Ember to clean up what the first team misses.
