Sync Workshop: Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom

Submit Feedback or Error

Generally considered one of the best support sync pairs in the game, Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom sport a unique playstyle that can fill an important role on just about any team. Their general effectiveness is highlighted in their Pure Support grid, which attempts to focus on doing what they do best by giving refreshes to all of their trainer moves and allowing them to fish for paralysis with Thunder Shock and whittle down the sync counter with constant attacks. The Supportive Thunder grid sacrifices a bit of speed for more power, which can be useful when paired with low gauge cost sync pairs. Finally, Sync Counter Dice Roll sacrifices a few refresh nodes in order to roll the dice for an even faster sync move countdown, though it is definitely a bit of a high risk, high reward setup.

Sync Grid Build 1: Pure Support

Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom make for a fantastic supportive sync pair, and the goal of this grid is to maximize their support functions. Breathtaking! MP Refresh 3 is a natural choice, as it gives a chance to make use of Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom’s signature trainer move to drain away the sync move count extremely quickly while giving a host of other benefits. Agile Entry 1 and Ridicure 2 work together to maximize Rotom’s evasion-support focus and keep it alive for as long as possible. Next is X Sp.Atk All: MP Refresh 2, which offers a great chance at either giving Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom’s team a full +6 special attack outright or providing more Battle Villa longevity. And finally, Thunder Shock Hostile Environment 1, Thunder Shock Move Gauge Refresh 3, and two Thunder Shock: Power+3 nodes are picked up to give Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom’s spammable 1-bar move solid odds of both refunding the one move gauge bar that it costs and paralyzing the opponent, thus offering even more supportive utility.

This grid works wonders with most teams and in most game modes, as it offers wide utility and can fit on many teams effectively. Sync pairs that can Mega Evolve like Karen & Houndoom and special attackers with less than perfect accuracy and a lack of self-buffs like Lance & Dragonite particularly love having their special attack, critical rate, and accuracy boosted. Note that even mostly self-sufficient special strikers can still appreciate the faster setup that Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom provide, as can physical strikers, though the latter will miss out a fair bit due to X Sp.Attack All being useless to them. Six Star EX Support units like Sygna Suit Blue & Blastoise also work very well with this set, as it expedites their doubly effective sync move buff on first use for a quick  leg up on the opposing team. Another one of the best teammates for this version of Rotom is Sygna Suit Leaf & Venusaur. The latter benefits from the team-wide buffs and expedited Sync Move greatly increasing its offensive potential, while its healing works with the former’s bulk to create an unbreakable defensive core.

Sync Grid Build 2: Supportive Thunder Spam

Just like with the previous grid, Breathtaking! MP Refresh 3 is a priority, along with Agile Entry 1 and Ridicure 2. However, this grid differs by picking up Thunder: Move Gauge Refresh 4, Thunder: Accuracy+20, and two Thunder: Power+4 nodes. Thunder is a more expensive attack than Thunder Shock, but its power and base chance to paralyze are substantially greater, as are the odds of success for its Move Gauge Refresh node. This set can work well with attackers that don’t generally take a huge portion of the move gauge such as Flannery & Torkoal, as it takes advantage of the excess gauge left unused to deal a bit more damage. It also has solid synergy with other support units that can buff speed and help keep the move gauge up, like Skyla & Swanna.

Basically, if your team can easily afford to spend more of your move gauge, why use Thunder Shock when you can instead use Thunder? While a bit more niche than the previous set, this sync grid is mainly for pumping out a bit more damage when it can be afforded, and can be useful in the Battle Villa. It’s also the go-to grid for the Champion Stadium when facing a stage that quickly refreshes the move gauge.

Sync Grid Build 3: Sync Counter Dice Roll

Arguably, Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom’s most standout niche is their ability to help tick down the sync move counter, and this grid leans heavily into this concept. Breathtaking! MP Refresh 3 is first as it is not only amazing in its own right, it also synergizes perfectly with this grid’s central concept. Next up is Agile Entry 1 to help keep Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom alive longer, and Thunder Shock: Move Gauge Refresh 3 to give them a low cost, spammable move. This grid then picks up Leg Up 2 fora chance to drop the sync move count by 1 right off the bat. It may be beneficial to reset a battle a few times to ensure that the effect activates. And finally, Third Act 4 is added to hopefully give a second sync move count drop after Rotom takes some damage.

Team mates that appreciate this grid are sync pairs that want to mega evolve as quickly as possible such as Blue & Pidgeot or Sygna Suit Grimsley & Sharpedo, as their mega evolutions make a big difference in their performance. This sync grid is also good  when using multiple Mega Evolutions at once. Examples for this would be running a mega tank like Jasmine & Steelix or Sygna Suit Blue & Blastoise with a powerful mega evolution Striker like Sygna Suit Red & Charizard. Sync pairs that have other reasons to want to use sync moves also appreciate the support that this grid can offer, such as Sygna Suit Cynthia & Kommo-o. Finally, pairing this set with a sync-nuke pair such as Steven & Metagross or Hilda & Emboar can pump out some very high damage. It must be mentioned that this grid is a bit of a gamble, as the two additional nodes that can help lower the sync move counter are not sure to activate. This variant works particularly well in the Battle Villa given the proper team setup, as it has the chance to activate its sync move lowering effect multiple times over the course of several battles.

On such a supportive unit, Vigilance is always a great choice. It can help keep Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom alive through the critical hits that threaten them at basically all times. Fast Track 2 and Stoic 2 are also good choices when paired with Thunder Shock grids in particular, as they have decent odds of coming into effect multiple times over the course of the battle. Fast Track 2 can raise speed and support the entire team indirectly,  and Stoic 2 can boost defense and make Rotom very bulky when facing Physical teams.
