Pre-Orders Open for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Bandai Namco has been busy lately. In the last few weeks, we've gotten announcements on a brand new One Punch Man game coming to consoles, updates on Elden Ring -- the highly acclaimed game with ties to George R. R. Martin (writer of Game of Thrones) -- and even more details on the new Dragon Ball Z title aptly named Kakarot.

In the below tweet from Bandai Namco, we get the following insight into this new and exciting title that seems to have filled the internet with as much energy as an old-school Kahmehameha.

Originally code-named "Dragon Ball Project Z" - it was announced at E3 that the game would be released on console (XBO and PS4) in early 2020, we really don't know a lot about the game yet. We know it's an action RPG - which is for certain a deviation from the style of most DBZ games to date - and we know there will be flying on nimbus clouds, action packed battles, an open world map... and we've even seen some interesting gameplay footage of Goku fishing with his tail... but to me the biggest takeaway is that it's developed by CyberConnect2.

These are the very same developers that brought us the excellent old-school .Hack sign series to console -- which while a bit repetitive was WAY ahead of it's time on the RPG front. Equipped with stunning cut-scenes and incredible game play, these games were vastly underrated.

You can view the trailer for Kakarot below and also pre-order your copy.

While twitter seems to be abuzz with mixed reviews -- people saying the art style leaves something to be desired and questioning whether or not it will have authentic-feeling gameplay, we're still really excited to see this game come to life and experience the DBZ world in a whole new light. I mean, after all, how can you turn down a part of the story that wasn't in the Manga?

Just so long as that part of the story isn't purely Goku hunting dinosaurs and slicing them into steaks.
