  • Players with deep pockets get an unfair advantage in a game with PvP battle systems

On November 15, 2019, Redditor u/Synclyric posted a summary of a French Saint Seiya: Awakening stream, which revealed that players who were spending $800-1,000 a week on the game were invited to an exclusive Facebook group, which included a personal Community Manager.

The manager would reveal information about future updates to the game, including information about powerful characters coming to the game.

This information was not disclosed to the public and information about who is in the club is unknown.

Within this community of fewer than 20 people, there are two to three that also spend over the average amount to a degree that they are catered to more.

Reception to this revelation on Reddit has been largely positive. On the Saint Seiya Awakening Subreddit, the top comment by u/Divelot explains that "From a business perspective...im okay with it."

The r/GachaGaming subreddit thread had a similar sentiment, from u/Dharzi:

I see no problem here, they are keepign the game afloat for everyone.

Of course positions of power can be abused... but if the community have specific in game problems that need to be addressed then these VIPs are in the perfect position to relay that.

What do you think? Is giving these high spenders an explicit advantage over other players an acceptable business practice? Leave a comment and let us know what you think! And check out our tier list for Saint Seiya Awakening below.
