VEETWO GUNDAM and Astray Blue Frame - Should You Pull?

gunplaAstrayAndVEETWO

Pilots!

Today we've got another edition of Should You Pull, brought to you by AetherRose on our discord server. Check out my assessment of this week's banner below!

Blue Astray is a big deal to a lot of people! I was really hoping it’d follow the theme of the other colors and be blue itself, but this is nice too! I’m just glad it’s in the game, really. I think my expectations are high, given the other is part of their new series!

Last week we got 2,150 Haro Chips, and here’s how:

  • 150 - Login Bonus
  • 350 - Daily Achievements
  • 100 - Event Login
  • 180 - Mission Completion
  • 170 - Arena Participation
  • 300 - Apology Chips
  • 900 - Story Completion

Let’s set up some ground rules so you know exactly what to expect and how you should be treating this!

This is entirely my opinion, but I will do my best to justify my opinion and explain to you why I feel a certain way. If at all possible, I’ll use real numbers as well and present an objective outlook before my opinion.

Do not pull on the banner hoping for a single Part. It’s 0.2% for a single Part, which is 50x 10-pulls or 500 pulls. In terms of real money, that’s 5,400 USD.

SS is considered meta defining, S is meta, A is great, B is average, C is below average, D is considered well below average, and F is awful. Parts are compared to all other Parts as a whole and on how well they synergize with other Parts. This means a 4* and a 3* would be compared to everything as low as a 1* to as high as other 4*s.

There are some notations which aren’t immediately obvious:

An EX Skill with D/B at 21/6 CD means it has a D in Piercing, B in Power, a 21 second cooldown, and it’s available for use 6 seconds after the match starts.

All stats, letters, and numbers are at Max Value.

With all of that out of the way, let’s get right into the new banner and what we’re looking at this week!

This week is a normal banner, which means it will be going to Standard Gunpla Parts Capsule 2 when the week is up.

Banner Grade: S+

Summary: This banner has a 1.6% (5.3%) chance of drawing something above average, and a 0.6% (1.99%) chance of drawing something of great value or higher.

To be perfectly blunt, this is probably the best banner we’ve had as far as being populated with great Parts goes. If this was a Sokai, this would hands down be the best banner we’ve ever had! Nonetheless, thanks Bamco for this gift unto us and LONG LIVE GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS RE:RISE!

I would not skip!

VEETWO GUNDAM

gunplaVEETWO

Head: S

This is a slightly weaker version of Nu’s Head with 2,791 S.Atk, which makes this one of the best Parts in the game. You might be thinking 500 S.Atk is a big loss, but it’s really not when you take into consideration the Part Trait’s 30% boost to Shooting Power is the actual reason to use these Heads, making the 500 difference hurt, but not critical. Just to throw some math behind that, a decent S.Atk build could have a 4k LR Weapon, these Heads, and let’s say Amuro. With the level 1 Trait (17%), that puts this Head’s build at 9,819 and Nu’s at 10,429. As you can see, the difference is a lot more meager when looking at whole builds.

Chest: S

While we are looking at very average stats, we’re also looking at a Part Trait which reduces ALL cooldowns, initial and otherwise, by 20% for Long Shooters. This is tied for best Trait in the game, in my opinion. Get it while it’s hot!

Arms: A+

Woweeeeee! OKAY! I’m LOVING THIS BANNER. Absolutely LOVING it! YESSSS. Again, the Arms aren’t fantastic from a statistical standpoint, but what they lack in raw unga bunga, they make up for by unga bunga-ing on your enemy’s grave with an EX Skill boasting A/D 60/0s. You noticed the 0, right? YUP, IT’S 11 MAGAZINE! Finally, like the rest of VEETWO so far, this comes packed with the AMAZING Word Tags Ace Excel. and High Firepower!

Legs: B

While much of VEETWO has been impressive, this Part falls short with average stats and a Part Trait that ….I’m not entirely sure what it’s good for, frankly. “Projectile speed boosted 15%” with Bazooka equipped. I suppose if you stack it you can hit them instantly, but...why? Saving this poor Part is a lovely Ace Excel. Word Tag.

Backpack: B

Average stats. D/B+ with 21/6s. Average EX Skill that’s mostly overpowered by Magazine EX Skills and Event Parts. However, this does have Ace Excel.!

BIG BEAM BAZOOKA: A

WHAT A NAME! I LOVE IT! Sitting at 3,590 S.Atk and being a Bazooka, it has the whole world in its hands! Since it is both Beam type and a Bazooka, it gets a host of conditional Part Traits tied to it, making it very synergistic and powerful as a stunning tool. Additionally, it comes with an A/D 60/15s EX Skill, which is pretty okay. Finally, this also comes with Ace Excel. That really is awesome!

Aesthetics: A+

It looks a little bit like a more …. Sharper Heavyarms. I don’t mean that as it looks better, I mean literally sharper, like knives. I don’t think it looks particularly good, but I can see how a lot of the Parts could synergize with less bulky builds, unlike Heavyarms, which basically only works with chunky bois.

Astray Blue Frame

gunplaAstrayBlueFrame

Head: B

There’s the head vulcans! Wow, these Defenses really stick out as being super high on a Head, but it’s overall average in spite of that, especially with Defense being such a low tier stat due to it not helping against EX Skills and not doing a lot to mitigate damage in general.

Chest: S+

Unfortunately, there isn’t much of a defensive meta, and the way the game is going, I’m a lot less sure there ever will be than when I gave Buffs like Armed Aura a lot of weight. That being said, the Debuff Offense Hack B reduces the enemy Squad’s Melee and Shot Attack by 24% and is still fantastic and the statistically above average Chest is boosted heavily by it.

Arms: S

WOW. OKAY. BAMCO? LOVING THE BANNER! These Arms offer a lot of Armor and Defenses for Arms, although you’ll find them heavily lacking in the M.Atk department. That being said, what separates them from the pack is its unique Debuff, which decreases enemy Squad’s Melee and Shot Defense by 24%. Now, you’ll remember I mentioned earlier that Defense is a low tier stat. As a result, reducing it is about as big of a deal as reducing their offense--which is to say it’s VERY HELPFUL, but not game breaking.

Legs: A+

These Legs boost EX Skill piercing by 28%, which is really strong, in my opinion. It’s not as good as Power boosting skills like the VEETWO GUNDAM Head, but in its own way, it contributes a lot. The stats are average.

Backpack: A+

WELL. I’m fairly sure this is the strongest 21/3s EX Skill in the game, sitting at B+/B- with Beam Melee, making it synergistic with the Hyakku Shiki Rifle. Should you use it over a Hissatsu? No, probably not, since they’re basically two EX Skills in one with their buffs and fights don’t typically last long enough to take advantage of the 21s CD. That being said, we’re definitely entering a CD meta, and if we can see enough universal CD Reduction to turn that 21 into a 5 or less, this might just become one of the best EX Skills in the game and an obvious bread and butter for any Melee gunpla.

Anti-Beam Shield [Blue Frame]: B+

With above average stats, this Shield is really tied up neatly with its Part Trait, which reduces Enemy Shooting power by 30% when you’re a Middle-Shooter. This looks pretty good, although very niche.

Aesthetics: B

Nothing flashy here, but I still love the sleek and sharp aesthetic. Although, I doubt it’s really going to fit well with a lot of gunpla, as even the medium sized ones seem a little too big for a lot of these Parts.

AI Pilots Judau Ashta (4*) and Lunamaria Hawke (3*)

pilotsJudauAndLunamaria

Banner Grade: S

Two amazing Pilots makes this banner absolutely worthwhile for anybody looking to upgrade their ranged game. Either one would be a fantastic addition to most teams!

Judau Ashta: S

Frankly, Judau is probably the best Mid Shooter in the game. With a very high 1,602 S.Atk and the Part Trait for increasing Buff EX Skill time up by 22% when you’re Power attribute, he’s the obvious choice. Of course, I suspect Kira actually does more damage, given his EX Skill Piercing, although not much

Lunamaria Hawke: A+

If these Pilots were graded based on the waifu-ness of their names, she’d be SS tier. Instead, she’s A tier because of her ridiculously good Part Trait, which boosts Long Shot Attack by 14% when Technique attribute, and her 1,142 S.Atk, making her one of the best blues in the game alongside Ramba Ral!
